Nantucket B&B or cottage?

Hi. Does anyone know of a nice, historic (not new construction) B&B or cottage they would recommend on Nantucket? Within close walking distance to a nice beach would be a bonus. Thank you!

Most B&Bs on Nantucket are not a close walk to the beach - they're in and around the historic town, which surrounds the marina on the north, or bay, side of the island. There are a few beaches near town, but the ocean beaches on the sunnier south side are all a few miles from town. The town is where most of the shops, restaurants and night life are, so it's usually better to stay in town and take the shuttle to the beaches rather than the other way around. Check the Trip Advisor listings for suggestions.

You could check out the Wade Cottages or the Summer House in Siasconset. Siasconset is at one end of the island .... about 7 miles away from the center,

Disagree with other poster ..... you can stay at various points of the island depending on what type of vacation you are seeking.

There are also private rentals available, which are a little harder to give specifics on.

A nice bb we love is The Century House, http://www.centuryhouse.com. We're looking to come back for a week sometime in June. The inn is quiet, walking distance to everything. Stepps Beach (don't know the exact spelling) was very close. The sunset there was spectacular. We love Nantucket and will probably come here the rest of our lives.
