Planning first trip to Cape Cod

We will have a week mid July to drive from Connecticut and visit Cape Cod. Days 1-2: We would like to drive to Falmouth and stay overnight. The next morning take the Island Queen Ferry to Marthas Vineyard(Oak Bluffs) for the day. We would leave our car at hotel to save on parking. Come back to same hotel for second night and head on to Hyannis for 3rd day. Is there a good hotel that we could walk to Ferry? We are 2 adults in mid 50s. We would like to spend under $170 per night. Also we would take transportation on MV. Does this sound ok?

In Falmouth:

Inn Season Resort .1 mile, 2 minute walk to ferry

The Seaside Inn - .5 mile, 10 minute walk to ferry

You can check rates & reviews here on TA. I am not sure what you mean by transportation on MV - do you want to rent a car? There is reliable, inexpensive public transportation available (and more expensive taxis)

Also, why Hyannis? There are less crowded, prettier places to visit.

We would like to take the ferry from Hyannis (SteamshipAuthorty) to Nantucket for the day and walk from hotel to ferry. The next day we would drive maybe to Provincetown. We will be on vacation for 6 days. We would also go to New Bedford.

Ok, that makes sense. But just in case you hadn't considered this, you can take an inter-island ferry during the season. Of course, you would have to depart/return from the same place in order to make it work with parking your car. (in this case Hyannis)

I'm not sure that I would want to do all that checking in and out of different hotels in a six day period. You have a car, why not choose one location to stay in and do your day trips from there?
