First time to Split August 2018

Hi booked in and out flights for Split and have booked flights for two weeks. Now need to organise our dream holiday. Like good food and great atmosphere, in our 50s so no parties anymore! Two or three centre would be good too and we only have hand luggage. Two adults and one 11 year old who adores a pool! but then used to culture and walking by the sea,but does then love to play cards etc watching the sunset. If we could, a villa would be great but I am guessing according to James Villa prices that is not possible. If possible no car. So in a nutshell, 4 nights one place and other nights a different place, quiet area but within walking distance of reasonably priced restaurants and walking along the coves would be perfect. Chilling out as a family.

Thank you!

Lots of posts on this subject, suggest you review them, all questions you ask are asked and answered many times. August is high season, apartments will be 100E plus per day. You dont need a car. Great bus, ferry, etc. transport for island visits, day trips up and down the coast. www.visitsplit.com is the official Split website. Start there for maps, what;s going on. Lots of restaurant guides, DiscoverSplit, Eat in Split, Visit Split--all free. www.split-apartment.com has great listings, run by a reliable local with an office in the Palace to store stuff, use internet, get info.

Yes, what sightseeingcroatia said, there's heaps of info available in this forum, and people will suggest different places anyway. Do a Google images search of coastal towns/islands in Dalmatia and see which appeals. There's catamarans/ferries/buses that service Dalmatia. Jadrolinija or Krilo for catamarans/ferries, and look at buscroatia for timetables. AirBnb and booking.com for apartments (I haven't used TA for apartment rentals so don't have an opinion on it). As stated, July and August is peak season so therefore apartment rentals are priced accordingly. Book accommodations ASAP, tourism to the coast/islands has increased a lot over the last few years.
