Where to stay in Dubrovnik with baby...

OK, I'm a little confused about the hotel and vacation-rental listings. Most of the top-rated hotels appear to be apartments in private homes. Then what does that make the vacation rentals? And there are so many! How to decide?

We're a family of three with a 9-month-old baby, coming to Dubrovnik in early September. Would love to find a place with at least a queen-size bed (baby sleeps with us) and a kitchen. Preferably in Old Town. Preferably not too pricey.

Recommendations, anyone?

We stayed at Karmen appartments for three nights in Dubrovnik a few weeks ago. Our place was small but they have larger rooms, the kitchen was well equipped. This place is cheaper if you stay more than three weeks. The location cannot be beat.We found it a bit pricey at first, but we would go back to the room during the day to unwind, eat and get out of the heat, and found that is well worth it's price. The owner is fluent in english and is very welcoming. Otherwise on the way back from Montenegro, we stayed one night at the Hilton just outside of the old town, which was less of a croatian experience, but its a nice place

This was very good question about hotel and vacation rentals.

Thanks to your post they change now and make real selection and they remove privat accommodation from hotel.

There are also one more mistake by vacation rentals and this is that "Dubrovnik Sun Gardens" don't belong there,is belong to hotel !!!

We stayed at "Apartment Nike-Old Town" for a week, fantastic place.
