Planning 14 days in and around Dubrovnik

Planning a 14 day break late September, early October and would appreciate help with following questions.

Would like to visit nearby islands, how easy is it to get around these islands as we wont have a car and could you give some idea of prices?

Would it be better to take an organised 7/8 day cruise or take the ferry daily from Dubrovnik?

Or

As we prefer views and countryside would it be better to spend 14 days near Porec (Istrian Riviera)?

As you can see I need some advice!!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.

In fall I would choose Istria, as truffle season will be underway.

Early September and spring are ideal for the islands. Of course one can never predict the weather, but generally...

Of course with 14 days you can traverse the country. If you can afford a small cruise and like that sort of thing then why not, but travel is easy. Even in off-season, with time on your side you'll be fine.

It will be also good to take whole day trip to Montenegro(Kotor,Cetinje,Budva,Sv. Stefan).

Other day go to Mostar(Bosnia and Hercegovina).

Late September/early October you would want to be far south if you want good weather. You could include an organised cruise as part of your 2 week holiday anyway.

We haven't gone there yet, but we were in a similar situation when planning our trip. We decided to go for a seven night cruise to see the islands along the coast. Set it up with Adriatica.net. Before that we'll have five nights in an apartment in the old city. There we'll just hang out, shop in the local food markets, and maybe take one or two day trips to nearby spots that the cruise doesn't visit. This will be in May and should be something of an adventure since we've never been to Croatia before. Good luck with your trip.
