Driving up the coast with the kids.

We are driving Dubrovnik-Trogir-Zadar-Plitvice Lakes and flying out of Zagreb. Are there any places along the coast (the slower route) that we should not miss, maybe something off the beaten track?

We have a very limited time, unfortunately, so we have very short stays in each city. And I do realize we are going to be rushed.

Here is the plan so far:

Tuesday-Leave Dubrovnik 3 hr drive to Split

Afternoon in Split and Trogir

Wednesday -morning to explore Trogir ?

afternoon drive to Zadar 1 hr. 27 min

Evening- Zadar Sea Organ.

Thursday

Zadar-morning glass museum? then drive from Zadar to Plitvice Lakes 2 hrs.

Friday-exploring the National Park

Saturday-leave in the morning for Zagreb and fly out.

60km after Dubrovnik there is Ston, with its great wall (the second largest after the Chinese one), Europe's oldest still operating traditional saltworks and oyster farms, all worth seeing, particularly the saltworks.

C'mon happy...having Ston walls in the same sentence with the Chinese copy is deceiving. It may be 2nd largest but still zillion times smaller.

without any harm done to the Ston wall, but come on Kefa, it sounds soooo thrilling to say it's the second largest in the world after the Chinese one. By the way, any other walls in the world?

I'll be very impressed if you do Dubrovnik to Split in 3 hours. I would also say that Ston and Mali Ston are worth a visit AND to climb the walls.

Yes the drive from Dubrovnik to split will be more like four hours without stopping and I don't see you doing it in three either.

Ston wall is 5.5 kilometers, Great Wall of China is 21,196 kilometers, Hadrian Wall in England is 135 kilometers. Ston is the second longest in Europe.

You are right, we'll probably take our time between Dubrovnik and Split, stop for lunch and scenery. But are you saying that it won't be three hours because it's still busy on those roads? As far as I understand the coastal road is quite windy.

By the way, is Sibernik something I should not miss?

I was also trying to figure out if maybe on the morning of the day we leave Zadar, if we could take a trip down zrmanja river. I wonder if there is a company that does any trips for families with kids...on the last day of October:)
