Is one or two weeks better for Czech and Croatia trip?

I am trying to decide where I should go in Eastern Europe. I might go in late April, but may wait until late September. Which period is likely to be better weather? If I go in April, it may just be a week, but if I go in late September/early October I may have two weeks. After going to Prague, these are the places I am considering:

1) Krakow

2) Croatia (Dubronovik or other suggestions?)

3) Slovakia

4) Slovenia (I like to hike but want a guided hike and the only one I found was expensive?)

5) I know people say Budapest is also interesting but I am probably traveling alone and am not quite convinced I would feel safe there.

Thank you.

September will be warm and that is what I would suggest.....and the more time in Croatia the better!

Barry is absolutely right. Seven days is definitely not enough time. September is a lovely time to go! :)

Thanks! I realized I may not actually be able to go this September because I have a wedding to go to on the west coast of the US but I might go the following year.

I went to Budapest in 2013 (I went with two friends). I appreciate you are travelling alone and I was with company but I got the overall impression it was a very safe, quaint city. It is a beautiful place and would highly recommend it! Not to be missed!

Two weeks is definitely better than one, even if you were only visiting Croatia. That's unless you really only want to visit a couple of the cities (which you could do in a week). Wherever you decide to go in the end, book an open-jaw ticket so you don't have to get back to your arrival airport

btw the places you mention are not considered "Eastern Europe" (since the Cold War ended). Prague, Budapest and Krakow are in Central Europe; Slovenia and Croatia are further south but generally the same cultural area.

I agree with the Cesky Krumlov recommendation. A lovely little town but very touristy in summer.
