Kornati National Park. Dugi Otok, Zirje, Silba, Premuda...all beautiful places but not as many historic little towns/villages as in the south.
Wind is always the same on the entire coast so mornings are calm and western wind (maestral) in the afternoon.
Marinas: one on the northern tip of Dugi Otok, Zut on island Zut and Piskera within Kornati National park
Also see if you get time to go to Skradin up Krka river. Nothing short of amazing!
Are you back? We are about to go and wondered if you had any advice! Thanks.
Hi Sorry to but in on this post but we are also considering the kornati islands in June we are not keen on the hustle and bustle of marinas etc can you tell me how easy is the connection between split Airport and Zadar yacht base or is it easier just to sail up from Split
any information greatly appreciated
It is easier to get the boat in Split and then sail north.
Connection from Split airport to Zadar is not the easiest unless you book a private transfer or organize something with your charter company.
In case you are sailing from Split, you can start by sailing to Primosten, Skradin, Kornati, Dugi Otok, Zirje and then back. Or something similar...
Hi there many thanks for that sound advice we will concentrate on Split as a base and head North from there keeping it simple we do not need bustling marinas and night life just a decent store to stock up with provisions and some nice sailing quiet anchorages etc
Hi, We flew into Split and then had a transfer arranged by the charter company (about an hour) to Sukosan where we picked up our catamaran. The staff in the marina suggested a fantastic itinerary which gave us alternate nights at anchor and in a marina where we could stock up on fresh provisions. There were many uninhabited islands in this area and it was incredibly serene and peaceful. Beautiful scenery and empty waters - I cant recommend it enough.
