Krakow to Lviv Night Train

I was wondering how nice the Krakow-Lviv night train is. What is the train like and what is the journey like? How is the border? Will I be able to buy tickets for it one or two days in advance at the end of July / beginning of August?

Also, how reliable are Ukrainian trains? Are they usually on time or close to on time? How nice is the kupe class on Ukrainian trains?

This train is composed of smart modern Polish or Ukrainian sleeper with 1, 2 and 3 bed compartments with washbasin. Should be fairly reliable. You can arrange tickets through www.polrail.com

I would say Ukrainian trains are reliable and they are normally on time.

Stopping at the border shouldn't take too much time either - it's usually much quicker than on a bus but still time is unpredictable, therefore international trains may be late.

Lviv-Krakow-Lviv #35/36 is probably the best Ukrainian and one of the best Polish international trains, one day run UZ carriages, while the other PKP). "Polish" train currently consists of only two carriages with standard compartments (single/double/3 bed), "Ukrainian" has three carriages and the difference that here also available 4 bed compartments. #35/36 is almost never late, so no worries about essential delays. Also no problem with the border, controls are rather mild since the train is to expensive for the smugglers

Usually it's not very popular, so it wouldn't be a problem to get a ticket few days in advance or even on the day of departure, so no need to use "middle man" agencies and pay extra commission, just visit Krakow main station and buy the ticket at the international ticket counter

p.s. you can find some picture of the PKP train here - www.justin-klein.com/nicest-train-ever, UZ train is also as good
