Mostar in April

My husband and I will be visiting Mostar from Dubrovnik in mid-April this year. We have never been to Mostar before and we will only be staying for one night. Does anyone have any suggestions for hotels? We prefer a 4-5 star hotel, but it looks like our choices are limited. Also, is it better to rent a car from Dubrovnik or take a bus? We aren't sure how much there is to see and if we can do it by foot or if we'll need our own car. Thanks for your help!

I'll be in Mostar in April as well, but will be there the week before you.

I've booked rooms at the Kriva Cuprija where I have stayed before. (39 euros for a single room.)

It's a charming stone-built house with lots of steps and terraces right by the Radobolje River and the little bridge - the Kriva Cuprija. It is also right in the centre of the Old Town. This one is the one they call the 'motel'.

On the website entry page you can see both places.

There is now a hotel also called the Kriva Cuprija which is a little further out, This is newer and has been recently refurbished. I'd expect the rooms are a bit more expensive here.

Also well recommended is Muslibegovic House, an old Ottoman House now a museum and a small luxury hotel. However this is some 15 minutes walk from the centre of the Old Town.

re the car, I drove to Mostar, it's an easy drive from Dubrovnik, and I've never had a problem parking in Mostar.

It takes about 2 hours to drive, but much longer on the bus. At least if you have a car you can visit Pocitelj and Blagaj en route, or maybe Medjugorje. If you have a car you are not tied into bus schedules so can be much more flexible with your time, and you can stop at roadside stalls along the way should you wish.

I would definitely suggest driving.

I second the recommendation for motel Kriva Cuprija (http://www.motel-mostar.ba/). Make sure you stay in the old town location -- it is very charming, a great starting point to walk around old town and the bridge, and I found the food at the restaurant to be quite good.

I also agree that renting a car would be your best bet.

Have a great time!
