Brasov - Sibiu Route plan advice please

Following two very pleasurable holidays in brasov, we wish to explore further next year and would like to spend 3 days in Brasov and then move on to Sibiu to explore a fresh area.

We will be using public transport and would be very grateful of any advice.

We will be arriving and departing from Bucharest, unless anyone has a better idea.

We have already done Bran , Sighisoara, Sinaia and Rasov

Kind regards

As you probably know already you should use trains to travel between Bucharest and Brasov, respectively buses for Brasov-Sibiu and Sibiu-Bucharest.

Train timetables are available on http://www.cfr.ro/calatori/ (there are hourly trains from Bucharest to Brasov, travel time is about four hours) and bus schedules on http://www.autogari.ro/index.php?lang=UK - specifically Brasov to Sibiu on autogari.ro/Transport/… and Sibiu to Bucharest on autogari.ro/Transport/…

While you're in Brasov you could visit the fortified churches in Prejmer and/or Harman (both places are less than 20 minutes away by train or bus from Brasov).

On the bus route to Sibiu you can stop in Fagaras to visit the local fortress

Using Sibiu as a base you could visit some of the traditional Romanian villages in the Marginimea Sibiului area just south west of the city (Rasinari, Orlat, Gura Raului, Sibiel, Poiana Sibiului etc.), they're relatively easily accessible by bus

Also do a trip south into the mountains along the Olt valley, for instance to the resort Calimanesti-Caciulata where you could see the 14th century Cozia monastery ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cozia_Monastery ); there are frequent buses and trains along this route.

If you have more time head to Hunedoara (about 3 1/2 hours from Sibiu by train+bus) to see the Hunyad castle ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunyad_Castle ).

BlueAir ( http://www.blueairweb.com/First-Page/ ) might have direct flights from Luton to Sibiu.
