Bran or Brasov?

Hi,

We are visiting Romania this summer and want to spend a couple of days visiting Brasov and the surroundings before heading to the seaside. Part of our Brasov trip, we would also like to see the castles in the area. Where do you recommend we stay? Bran or Brasov? Also, if you think we should be visiting anything else (we've got a plane landing in Bucharest), we are open to suggestions.

Many thanks.

Toda, David.

I am not sure about Sighisoara and Sibiu, as we are only planning two and a half days for Brasov, but we'll definitely give the others a try.

Is there a train to Bran or just buses?

Stay in Brasov

On your way to Brasov from Bucharest stop for a few hours in Sinaia and see Peles Castle .

2 and a half day is enough for 2 day trips: one to Bran and one to another destination Sighisoara or Prejmer and Harman

There is one direct train Brasov - Constanta

Autogara 2 from where the bus goes to Bran is far from the train station an Avram Iancu street nr.114, on the other side of the town . The bus will leave you in front of the castle in Bran .

not near the train station as adriana mention, if I am not wrong bus number 4 take

you from the train station to autogara 2 .

that what I found on the net :

"Buses to Bran, Moeciu, Râşnov and other directions

You can take a bus to these directions from either Autogara 2, Bartolomeu area or Stadionul Municipal bus terminal; there are lines that take you from the train station/center to these particular places.

Buses #23, #23B: Train station (Gara) - Stadionul Municipal via Stadionul Tineretului (near Autogara 2) and Bartolomeu area.

Bus #16: Stadionul Municipal - City center

Bus #12: Center (Livada Poştei) - Stadionul Tineretului (near Autogara 2)

Bus #5: from the Primărie bus stop (New City Hall - 4 min walk from the Livada Poştei bus station through the Park) - Stadionul Municipal via Str. Lungă and Bartolomeu."

thos are the buss that work in brasov :

I recommend you stay in bran because here you will see some great scenery, you can taste traditional dishes very good.

Here are a few pensions in nature where you can go: http://www.lapensiuni.ro/ro/pensiuni/bran

Bran is nice, but not for a longer stay. Brasov is a bigger city, with a beautifully restored central area. There is simply a lot more to do in Brasov, once the sightseeing for the day is finished.

If you wish to move around more easily, I would look into the option of renting a car from Bucharest. It would save you quite a bit of time.
