Can you make in Dubai Airport? Any help will be much appreciated.
I gave up 6 months ago, it was never the money, it was smelling like crap and being a slave to it. It was amazing taking 4 flights last month and not having that normal panic and getting really edgey around the baggage reclaim :)
On a side note - does anyone know if you can buy cigarettes in the duty free shop when you arrive at Dubai airport? I bought 1000 B&H on my way home from Dubai last time for just £25!! It would be nice to have some for when I arrive on my next visit?
yes of course you can, collect your bags and its right in front of you if i remember correct
No probs buying fags on the way in. I think you are allowed 400 each. At least that is what we were told last time.
Aren't all you others really good giving them up!!!
Wish I could get myself into that mode!
As someone said (sorry can't remember who it was) always a panic to get out and have a smoke on arrival!!!! Maybe some day I will be able to come on here as an ex smoker!!!!!!!!! No willpower LOL
although there may be a limit on the number you can buy at duty free, we went to the little tobacconists every time we went out and bought several boxes!!!!!
they werent that much more expensive and just allowed you to bring a few in your suitcases that you may not have smoked whilst you were in dubai!!!
If i could keep going to dubai i wouldnt have given £4 plus to mr darling every time!! i bought a packet
im only 3 weeks in, so am doing my best, its amazing how good you feel after such a short time!!
dont buy any cigs in an airport, just walk into the smokers booth, inhale deeply about 5 times and your sorted till you get of the plane!!
what a money saver!
Yes - there a few smoking areas and I think you can also smoke in the Irish Village pub inside the airport.
Dubai is a terrible place to try and give up smoking - cigarettes are dirt cheap...
Hi there, this is to nickd 3 weeks without a ciggie is good going i have just passed the 3 year mark in feb and have went from driving a ford to a mercedes nothing fancy just a c class, nothing wrong with ford may i add, my wife loved hers, but it shows you can save a few pennies if you stop.
Ps i have nothing against smokers some of my friends still smoke.
Gerry, wish I could introduce you to my mother... you could give her the speach. ;-)
I have given up on her - her choice to smoke, nothing I can do about it (just insist that she doesn't smoke in our house, avoid staying at hers much etc). She tried to give up a few times, but has very little will power at all. At 70 years of age, I don't think that is likely to change...
I am lucky, I have never smoked (two heavily smoking parents put me off for life).
Dubai airport is strictly NON-SMOKING - in 2009.
there is one small enclosed room next to gate 125 in Terminal ONE, which is now the ONLY place in the whole airport airside which allows smoking.
As all Emirates flights use Terminal three, this is a mighty long walk just for a smoke, and it is so poorly ventilated in the small room, that your eyes will be stinging after a minute in there.
Also the room is inadequate in size for all the smokers, but you definitely cannot smoke outside this one room.Another issue is it is mixed sex, so females who smoke will definitely feel very uncomfortable with the unwarranted starring from the oppposite sex - regardless of how moderately they dress.
It is a shameful service to smokers, from a major international airport. AVOID Dubai airport if you are a smoker needing a nocotine hit when you are in transit, unless the airport authority decide to make better provision for smokers.
