Renting a car- where to stay?

Hi,

We're renting a car in dubai for 6 days and would like to know where would be a good location/hotel to stay at when weighing up cost Vs distance?

I'm considering arabian park hotel and holiday inn al busha?

Sorry, but cost versus distance to what ?

Both hotels you mention are on the outskirts so taxis are more difficult to find at them and the Arabian Park is by a very busy highway.

Big up to you for hiring a car ! I wouldn't drive in Dubai

Not sure what your interests are in Dubai - whether the beach/sea or city/shopping?

If its the beach then you might consider a hotel around the Marina or Palm.

If you want to be close to the Old Dubai with the Souks and Historical sites, then Bur Dubai or Diera are the locations to go for.

Since you are driving, you may want to go for the Marina/Palm since getting around and parking is easier.

ok thanks. what is parking like in dubai? we're interested in mostly the beach and shopping but driving as long as there is parking nearby. not sure how easy that is though!

Paid parking is available in most areas but you may struggle to get a empty slot in the busy regions like Diera and Bur Dubai.

Marina / JBR areas not so busy - and close to sea/beach and malls - I would opt for this.

Look at the Holiday Inn Express in Safa Park, that's quite central - no pool though.

Or the Ibis and the Novotel on Sheikh Zayed Road - they share a pool

Or the Four Points Sheraton on SZR that has it's own pool.

And unless you intend to travel around a lot rethink hiring a car - taxis are cheap and will get you most places you want to go much more easily than a car.

Unless you have experienced driving in Dubai before then I would wait until you get there to see if you can deal with the other road users who are all madder than Mick McMad.
