We will be staying at the Atlantis Hotel next week does the Metro go from there to any of the shopping malls?

The Metro doesn't go to Atlantis. There's a Monorail which goes from Atlantis to Al Sufouh (just about) at the trunk of the Palm then you have to get a taxi to the malls (nearest are Ibn Battuta and Mall of the Emirates). In other words the monorail only operates on The Palm and, at the moment, doesn't join up with the Metro.

Top tip? Get a cab.

Absolutely agree - get a cab all the way.

The monorail is expensive for what it is and no one wants to be standing at the base of the Palm in the heat and humidity at the end of May waiting for a cab to go past.

Thanks for the tip - we are also staying in the Al Qasr Hotel, near the Jumeriah Beach Hotel, after we leave the Atlantis does the Metro go from there to any of the Malls?

Please understand that Dubai Metro is on the other side of the Sheikh Zayed Road the main highway of Dubai and it is not along or near the coastal / beach and all hotels you have mentioned that you will be staying.

It will be much easier to get a taxi from Al Qasar hotel to Mall of the Emirates, then from Mall of the Emirates you can take Dubai Metro to Dubai Mall - near the Burj Khalifa Tower and come back again later to Mall of the Emirates and back to your hotel by taxi .

Hope that will help to experience Dubai Metro.

The Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Mail is at least a 15 minute walk from the Dubai Mall metro station as we found out on Tuesday.

15 minutes is nothing back in the UK, however it is a bit much when it's 38 degrees at midday!

I disagree with the previous post, I find the walk to Dubai Mall takes 10 minutes and is still do-able in the current weather - of course we all have a difference tolerance to the heat so you may not fancy walking. In which case, you can take the bus from the metro to mall and you can wait inside the cool metro station then just go out to the bus stop when the bus arrives.

Yes its around 10 minutes but we had problems as did others in finding the Mall entrance. We ended up going via the car parks. It was a bit confusing.

bronia I think to go in a proper entrance you have to walk quite a bit further, around to the front of the mall. I always end up wandering around inside the car park too!
