You can get off the metro at Khalid ibn Al Waleed station. Exit the station and you'll stand right in front of Burjuman shopping mall. From there take a cab to Bur Dubai Abra's station. Fare would be around AED15-20 depending on the traffic.

The taxi driver usually would drive through Bastikiya/ Dubai Museum area on the way to the abra (or the little boats, as you call them ;-)) station, so maybe you want to get off there as well. If you do, from there it's just a walking distance to the abra station, and you'll walk pass through the Textile Souk/ Mina Bazaar.

From the abra station as well, (still on Bur Dubai side) you may also like to take a stroll along the creek towards Shindaga Heritage Village and then walk back to the abra station. Then you can take the abra (AED1 each way) across the creek and explore the spice and gold souks. and basically the old Dubai.

Hope the above give some ideas a bit :-)

if time allows you do the creek tour on the abra it costs 100dhs for 1 hour for all of you not each and its great,

you can get some good photos

you could get off at union station and when you come out of the station look over the road and you will see the Radisson hotel cross the bridge cut through by the Radisson and your right on the creek, turn to your right and its about 10min walk to abra station theres also a little cafe that do fresh fruit juices just nice sitting watching whats going on ..

Distancewise Union station is the closest to the creek. From here you can walk to the Abra station in 7 minutes. Or you can take bus C2 at no extra cost and get in front of the Abra station.
