Have we made a mistake?

Help, I have booked to stay at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort next month. A bit concerned as the reviews are very mixed and highlight noise levels as a cause for concern.Had no idea the hotel had an open air night club -is this open during the summer months? Are there roadworks outside the hotel and if so, does this mean nothing is accessible by foot.? Are there any shops or restaurants in the local area which can be accessed without jumping in a cab? We are only staying for 5 nights so is it worth upgrading to the Westin? Thank you in anticipation

Recently got back from the westin and did hear people complain about noise at Barasti bar to be honest, even though the Westins next door we didnt hear any noise. No you cant really walk to the nearby shops/restaurants but by getting a cab you are only about 3 -4 mins from the start of the walk where you will find loads of places to eat. We walked round the grounds of Mina Seyahi and the pool area looked nice. From personal choice I would upgrade to the Westin. From either you can access a golf cart to a nice seafood restuarant called the Dhow, which is lovely but quite expensive.

I stayed at the hotel some years ago. There is nothing much outside the hotel that is accessible so you are reliant on cabs or the hotel shuttle.

Thanks for the info. Is the walk at the Hilton end? We got a good deal, so I guess that explains why.

The Hilton is on the walk at the nearest end to the Meridien Mina Seyahi, .

And the Westin is further away from the Jumeirah Beach Walk than the Mena Seyahi so you will have to take cabs from either - it really is only 3 or 4 minutes though.

The only beach facing hotels with direct road access to the Jumeriah Beach Walk are The Ritz Carlton, The Hilton and the Sheraton (which is at the farthest end)

Then you have the Movenpick or the Sofitel but both are on the oposite side of the road to the beach and neither have their own beach.

Barasti Bar is closed in high summer

Thanks very much Latimer - it's a relief to know the bar is closed when we are there. If our budget permited, I would love to stay at the Ritz Carlton, maybe next time! We visited Dubai for the first time in April and had a major splurge, so this time it's more of a budget break.

Is the beach walk the same place as the marina walk. We took a taxi to the marina walk when we were there last year but there didn't seem to be an awful lot of good restaurants. Were we in the wrong place!!!!!!!!!

Yes, although they are connected to each other you would need to cross one of the bridges to get back to the beach side where the Jumeirah Beach Walk is.

Best option is to catch a taxi and ask the driver to drop you outside the Ritz Carlton hotel - this is at the very start of the JB walk - or to the Hilton hotel which is a little further down.

When are you going next month? Will the World cup still be on, If so how noisy will it be with the huge screen on the beach where Barasti normally is?

Oh dear, we are going on the 5th July!! Hoping to get away from all this football madness. So is the football screen actually in the hotel complex? Is it on most of the day and evening? How many people turn up to watch?

Can it be heard from the Westin?
