It's a very busy airport and at certain times of the day even busier and yes, the immigration queues at terminal 3 are really quite long at certain times of the day.

However, you don't have to go through immigration so you just follow the transit signs rather than the arrival signs and go through transit security emerging back into terminal 3. You need to keep an eye on your onward flight departure gate and will have time because Emirates wouldn't have allowed you to book the flight if you couldn't make the connection

Hi,

DXB airport is very busy and getting busier.

It depends on which plane you arrive on - if you are on the A380 you will arrive at Concourse A and have to take the shuttle train to B for your ongoing flight. Though some 777's are also using the new concourse as well as the A380s.

As you prepare to land the departures board flashes on your TV screen onboard so you should have some idea which gate your ongoing flight is departing from - anyway you'll see it on the departure boards when you land. Follow the signs for transit passengers.

No immigration just security screening - long lines but they do move fairly quickly.

I'm not sure who's been telling you these stories, but I've never had a nightmare experience at all when either arriving, departing or transitting through Terminal 3.

It is busy especially around midnight. It's not really any worse than anywhere else in the world. Don't worry.

there is no need to get tensed, though the airport is busy its quite user friendly and has signs and posts everywhere. you mostly land past midnight from dublin and during this time it starts getting busier! you are not to pass immigration since you are in transit only regular security checks though the lines are huge they move quite fast.

once you are inside the terminal building follow the transit passengers sign and you should be all fine! only advise - walk swiftly.. no need to run. expect to take approx an hr plus from the time you land untill you reach your next boarding get but again depends on the rush... you may be lucky to complete it faster!

Wonder from where you heard nothing but nightmare stories.

Maybe you should look at some facts:

Dubai is the fourth largest airport in the world measured by international passengers. Transfer takes more time compared to a regional airport.

Airport customer experience rating have dropped in the past. Dubai is now only number 33 (Heathrow 10, Hong Kong 4, Kuala Lumpur 14).

Dubai is especially weak in terms of crowd, public washrooms, immigration and car parks.

For transit passengers the largest problem is queue time.

Overall Dubai is ranked as a three star airport

So it is not a great airport but also not a nightmare. Try to keep an open mind as this is your first experience of Dubai airport.

hi joseph g

do you know how long your transit time is in the airport ? this is important because

if you have agood few hours the almost inevitable queue to go through the hand luggage check will not be a too much of a problem all advice is correct always check your departure gate number maps and signage is everywhere is you want a smoke the irish bar or the hod are smoker friendly but most important is to give yourself plenty of time to get to your departure gate

Nightmare stories about T3 staff? That is a new one. Normal security check as in any international transfer zone. It is certainly a very busy airport with Dubai rising in popularity, but is an interesting transit area - you have plenty of cafes, dutyfree, and Lounge options. If the transit duration is long enough, people even get out to see Dubai. If you stay within the terminal, no need for immigration check.
