Solo female - bars / nightlife

Hello

I am 33 yo female and heading to Dubai for a couple of nights in the next couple of weeks. I have a free night (Wednesday) and wondering if there was any bars/ pubs which would be the most suitable for a solo female.

I just want to go for a couple of drinks and maybe socialise a little - not really into nightclubs as such and would just like a wine or cocktail from the afternoon into the evening.

Where would people recommend ?

Thanks

Monty

Go anywhere you fancy. It's safe to be out and about as a lone female.

Maybe if you say where you are staying then people can give specific recommendations.

Thanks ! I'm staying at downtown ramada. I have read on here that perhaps I would be targeted as a prostitute if I go out alone. Wouldn't mind meeting some ex-pats to chat to.... If anyone knows of some ok places !

Targeted is too strong a word. You may get mistaken for a prostitute but surely then you would move on or put the person right - also I don't see why your risk of being mistaken for a prostitute is any more or less than it would be in any bar in any major city.

You can go anywhere you want. Perhaps combining it with a meal in a lounge bar.

There is a nice lounge/bar at The Palace hotel, called Ewaan

There is a wine bar called Margaux in Souk al Bahar

There's a restaurant/bar in Al Manzil hotel called Nexeaussi

These are all walking distance from where you are staying and there are many more.

There are so many expats that you won't have a problem meeting people to chat to. If you prefer somewhere a bit more casual and relaxed then perhaps Irish Village, which is a 15 min cab ride away would suit you better.

You won't be taken for a prostitute any more than you would in any other city ie you won't be unless you are very obviously flirting with men and vying for business which you won't be doing.

I've spent time alone in bars, I have a habit of being early when my friends seem to have habits of being late. I've never felt uncomfortable or been harassed.

You will be fine, just use your intuition.

There are hotels near the Ramada Bur Dubai with "bars" which are not really bars as in the traditional sense; the ones at York and Panorama Hotels being 2 of them.

But it is a matter of common sense; normally one can tell these "bars" apart before entering them just by looking at the clientele.

And it is almost always in shady 2 star hotels that you have such bars, one exception being the Hyatt in Deira
