Planning a honeymoon trip to Dubai

Hi,

We are planning for a honeymoon trip to Dubai for about 7 days. We will be taking a flight from Delhi(India) to Dubai.

Our budget is 1-1.5 Lac Rupees for the entire trip. I did a search on places to visit in Dubai and found out the following locations.

It will be really helpful if you provide your inputs on:

- Hotel location: Should we select a hotel that is near to airport or within the city.

- Good hotels that we should opt for.

- How should we plan our day wise schedule so that we can cover up maximum places within 7 days and also relax?

- Good taxi services that can provide a single taxi for all the days till the day we are in Dubai. Airport pick and drop also inclusive.

- Expenditure/tickets at each place.

Places that we found are:

• Wild Wadi Water Theme Park

Dubai Dolphinarium

• Beaches: scuba diving, snorkeling and jet skiing among many other fun activities.

- Jumeirah Beach Dubai

- Wollongong Beach

- Jebel Ali beach

Gold Souk, Spice Souk, Textile Souk, Perfume Souk

• Desert Safari

• Dhow Cruise

• Balloon Ride

• Sky diving

• Visiting important points in Dubai: Burj Khalifa, armani, Palm islands

• Atlantis Aquaventure water park

• Lost chambers

• Underwater Zoo

• Wonderbus

• Ferrari world

Abu dhabi tour

• Dubai Fountains

Ski Dubai: snow park

• Sky diving

• Jumeriah Mosque

Dubai Creek

• Malls

- Dubai Mall

- Mall of the Emirates

- BurJuman

- Ibn Battuta Mall

- Deira City Centre

Please pick only the good places from the above list for helping us plan our trip.

Thanks and Regards,

Alisha

If I understand you rightly, you have around USD 2400 for the trip. Deducting flight tickets you will have around USD 1800 or around USD 250 per day. Is this about correct?

If you want to have advice in terms of hotel, you need to tell a bit more how you imagine your trip. E.g. Do you want to stay close to the beach? What makes a good hotel for you?

What type of hotel standard do you imagine? With your budget there will be a trade off between a good hotel or expensive trips. Also there is little sense to pay a lot of money for a good hotel when you will have no time to enjoy it and use their facilities etc.

Taxi in Dubai are straightforward. You take one when and where you need one. Pay the price on the meter and that's it.

Your long list is good. The question is, what would you like to do?

You could stay in a studio apartment in one of the hotel apartments in Bur Dubai area. When are you planning the trip? Hotel rates vary according to the season.

You could do the desert safari, marina or creek cruise, SkiDubai, aquarium, all malls, Burj Khalifa, Fountain boat ride, Dolphinarium, water theme parks, miracle garden, jumeirah beach. Again, it depends on what you like to do. No point in just going to every attraction if it doesn't interest you.

You can find the prices of attraction by searching the net. Post a day wise itinerary here & guys here could help you fine tune it.

Don't bother trying for a single taxi for the entire trip. Taxis charge by the meter & are quite cheap. Do try the metro as well for longer trips like Bur Dubai to Mall of Emirates or Ibn Battuta.

What do you expect from your honeymoon?

Will you and your new spouse be more concerned about checking things off of your long list so you can tell your friends back home? Or of having a nice time together as a newly wed couple and enjoying Dubai *and* each others company?

If the latter then cut most things out of your list and relax. Abra across Dubai Creek, visit to the souqs, photos outside Burj al Arab, evening fountains at Burj Khalifa, a trip up Burj Khalifa, a desert safari, throwing snowballs at each other in Ski Dubai. That sounds like as much as you need to do in a week.

If you prefer the former then I'm not the person to advise so will hand over to others.

No need for the name of a local taxi service - just use the taxis from the official rank at Dubai airport, you will see them all over the city and they are easy to find, cheap and safe to use.

I'd stay in the city rather than by the airport.

There are many activities and you wont; fir them all in so I would choose what you want to do from the list and keep some time for relaxing

Hi,

Thank you so much for your suggestions. Yes you are right we should first decide how we want our trip.

We would like to stay close to beach. So accordingly please suggest.

Also, we would like to have a relaxing romantic holiday instead of a hectic one.

From the long list that I have mentioned, I would like you to suggest which places should be seen as a part of honeymoon trip and accordingly plan it day wise. Also, you are right in calculating our budget.

Our honeymoon dates are not yet finalized.

Here is a map of Dubai.

You will see that you are close to the beach wherever you stay as Dubai is long and thin. Hotels that are right on the beach are much more expensive then those a short distance away and wherever you stay you can be on the beach in 10 or 15 mins by cab.

I think we've already made suggestions of what you could do on a honeymoon trip - the rest of the planning is up to you
