Currency exchange, Visa on arrival

Hi there

Which is the best place to exchange currency USD to AED.? Can I do all in Dubai airport or take AED from united states?

Does US Citizen, ( USA Passport ) apply for for UAE VISA on arrival at the Dubai airport? Any fees for this?

It's better to exchange in Dubai. There's an exchange booth just opposite the luggage carousel at arrivals in the airport where you'll get better rates. We always exchange some money there to get us through the first day or so and then exchange more at one of the malls (where there is sometimes a slightly better rate than the airport). Alternatively, you can also use ATMs to withdraw cash as needed.

If you have an American passport then you will receive a 30 day visa on arrival in Dubai.

You'll get a free 30 day visa on arrival, no forms to fill in, it will just be stamped in your passport as you pass through immigration.

The dirham is pegged to the US$ so the rates don't vary day to day but as a general rule for other currencies you get slightly better rates in malls than at the airport.
