Jumeriah Beach Sofitel - construction impact and location

Hi

I am looking at staying 3 nights in early Oct 14 at the Sofitel Jumeriah Beach but seems to be significantly impacted by construction works adjacent to the hotel. Can some one confirm whether all works will be completed by this time. Also this seems to be a good location for 3 day stay that will be our first and just looking for a taste of Dubai. Thanks

Whether or not it is a good location depends on what you want to do in Dubai.

If you want to spend a lot of time in the older areas of the city (souks, creek side, heritage areas) then it's not the best location to be in; however if you want to spend time near the beach in new Dubai then it's fine.

No one can tell you what the construction will be like when you go - people can only say what it's like now and people always seem more worried about it before they go than they are when they've been

The construction in dubai marina/jbr area has been going on for years now and it does not seem to affect people or deter them from going to that area. In fact it is getting more popular and a hot spot. Dubai is a city expanding and construction and new projects will probably continue for the coming few years. I don't think it should affect you from enjoying this city.

Don't forget this hotel does not have its own private beach.

There is always construction in Dubai so it is difficult to guarantee somewhere completely construction free however the construction directly opposite the Sofitel is complete - it is now low rise shops and I have to say it has really benefitted the area as I think the Walk has been transformed within the last 12 months. The marina area behind the hotel is also largely complete now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

There is still some building works going on further up the walk, which is likely to be pretty much complete in October however there are starting to build two new towers, opposite Oasis beach towers.

You should not be directly affected by construction at The Sofitel and it an excellent hotel however as Dasiy says it is not directly on the beach and its pool can get busy, traffic can be very busy on the walk so you have to bear this in mind if you intend on doing lots of sightseeing.
