2 days to go !!!! - last minute questions

I've booked desert safari with Phoenix tours as got a good deal on groupon, going to Wild wadi water park before we go as well.

But just wonder what nightlife is like in Dubai, staying at Meridien Mina beach, are they places in dubai were you can go for drinks and dance or is it more sit down with food and drinks.

If anybody could recommend any nightlife places it would be helpful, we are thinking of going to watch the fountains on Thursday night as well

And what sort of price are taxis ?

Thank you :)

Taxis are cheap relative to UK if that is where you are from. They are metered so no need to haggle a fare.

Mina Seyahi hotel has one of the most popular bars in Dubai, Barasti Bar and now that Ramadan is over all of the nightclubs will open again.

Just be aware that it will still be too humid to spend too much time outdoors at night and so anything beach bar wise is not great so focus instead on finding some of the great bars and clubs

Have a look at Timeout Dubai nightlife section for ideas.

Looks like Dubai night life will surprise you. As Latimer said Barasti is one of the popular bars in dubai but it's usually nicer when the weather is cool to enjoy the outdoor seating. Other bars and clubs in your surrounding area include:

- 360 and Mahiki both in Jumeirah Beach hotel

- Buddha Bar and Embassy both in Grosvenor house) are popular as well

- Observatory Bar in Mariott opposite your hotel is on the 53 floor and has great views of the palm and has a happy hour from 5-8 pm so it gets really crowded.

Also a short taxi ride take you to madinat Jumeirah with several bars like Bahri bar with great views of burj Al Arab and BarZar.

If you fancy a good old knees-up, the Nell Gwynn pub in here might be the business.

Hi,

I take it no children are allowed in any of these bar's, even before a certain time. Is that correct?

Thanks.

Bbasra, we go as a family with my teenage son to Barasti for lunch and it's fine. Only at night children are not allowed. Other restaurant bars like Karma Kafe are the same. So better to check if kids are allowed.

Sorry to wade in on your topic but I've one question regarding drinking at the various establishments mentioned so far..

How do you get away with having a knee's up at these places and making it back to your own hotel? Don't the police arrest you lol?

Many people drink and have a good time and go home without issues. The police will arrest you if you make a scene or get in trouble causing the involvement of police.
