west baray-malaria pills or not

If I take a one day country side bike trip to west baray visiting locals and seeing rural life, do I need malaria pills or should I be safe? This will be for early January 2013.

Hope to have response soon as I need to book the tour.

West Baray is 10 kms from Siem Reap and closer to Angkor Thom. I don't think it needs any special treatment.

I can tell you what I would take on a trip to the West Baray.

Hat.

Sunscreen.

Camera.

Insect Repellent (with Deet) never leave the hotel without it.

Money for food and drink.

Cozzies. :)

Wife.

I wouldn't take a towel and I wouldn't take malaria tablets.
