Exchange currency

Hi,

Can I pay everything in $$$ in Cambodia? Shall I exchange currency before I go to Siem Reap or when I get there?

Thanks

1. Re: Exchange currency

This is an FAQ and dealt with almost weekly on the forum.

In brief - USD is the de facto currency of Cambodia - use it and get small change back in KHR=Cambodia Riel - which is a non convertible currency and worthless outside of KH. Use it as you get it. The "street" exchange rate is KHR 4000 = USD$1. Relatively small USD$ notes are the way to go.

Get as many USD 1 bills as you can get. Tuk tuk rides are super cheap and even eating at Pub Street shouldn't set you back more than USD $10 for something truly extravagant.
