8 travellers - Siem Reap to Bangkok - Overland Taxis

Hi All

Just trolling through past threads, and looking for an answer on if we were to take a taxi from Siem Reap to Poipet border early in the morning - which I think is 2 hours and border opens at 8.00 am, how long will it take to clear checkpoints and arrange another minibus etc direct to Don Mueng Airport in Bangkok or Suvarnabhumi for a flight to Koh Samui ASAP. Which airport would be closer to arrive at via the taxi? And does anyone have an approximate timeframe of when we would arrive? Any help would be greatly appreciated. There are 8 of us and the fares from SR to BKK including departure tax is quite expensive for this leg of the journey.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We took a max of 1/2 hour to get through the formalities. (I believe if you go on the bus, it is hectic. It is best to go early and beat the buses.). I would arrive 7.30am, so that you are first in the queue. It should go quickly.

We waited quite a while for our transfer from Poipet to Bangkok, as there were only 2 of us and they were waiting to fill up the mini bus. With 8 of you, you should leave immediately.

8 passengers probably means 3 taxis. Might be better to look at hiring your very own minibus.
