Do you have Chinese visas or SIN passports? If I was taking an elderly person I would first consider the Wanzai Ferry as there is no walking involved, but there is no Visa Office at Wanzai.

If you are planning to buy VoA, you have no choice but to use Gongbei. The walkibg is about 500 m but it is the standing in line that is most difficult for elderly. Luckily there is a special lane for over 65s so if there are only two of you it should be very quick.

I hope I may add my question here.

Am arriving at Macau airport about 4pm on Sunday and intend to cross into Zhuhai that very day.

What would be the most convenient way to cross over?

I heard that there is a shuttle bus from the airport to the crossing at Gongbei.

I have a Singapore passport and do not require visa on arrival.

much appreciated! :)

Take the shuttle and walk over. Be prepared for some waiting time.

#5, fion9191:

AFAIK, there is no free casino shuttle bus directly from Macau Ferry Terminal (MOHFT) to Gongbei, if that's what you were asking.

You can take public bus AP1, which passes by MOHFT, and goes to Gongbei (the destination sign is "Portas do Cerco", or just CERCO.). Fare MOP 3.2. There is luggage rack on board. About 1 every 10 minutes.

If you don't have big luggage, you can also take bus 3A for the same route. Same price. About 1 every 10 minutes.

You are welcome, fion9191.

To answer your additional questions:

>> here is only one ferry terminal at macau? <<

There are two major ferry terminals in Macau, serving Hong Kong and other Pearl River Delta ports. The main one is Macau Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal (MOHFT), aka Macau Maritime Terminal. The smaller, newer one is Taipa Temporary Ferry Terminal. I typically recommend using MOHFT because the ferry schedule is much more frequent.

The riding time is about 15 to 20 minutes. Macau is very small. For this route, actually you can take the free Venetian Hotel shuttle to Gongbei Border. If you take a taxi, the fare is about MOP 100 or so I think. But border crossing can be time consuming, especially if you go during a busy hour. Something like 1 hour to cross.

I am not entirely sure. I think during the opening hours, from 7 am to 9 am (maybe even 10 am) is probably the busiest, as people living in Zhuhai come over to go to work, and travelers from Macau go to Zhuhai for day trips or shopping or on the way to Guangzhou. I would imagine that there is another busy hour some time in the afternoon when the opposite happens, but may be spread out a little bit.
