My fiancée and i would very much like a wedding ceremony here in China. We are fully aware, that the law does not permit us to be lawfully wed in China, and we do not ask for a legally binding ceremony. We wish only a personal ceremony for our own sake and memory. No official paperwork is therefore required, and there will be no guests attending.
We thought maybe it would be possible to arrange for a small Buddhist service at a local temple, where a monk blesses our union. We are aware that Buddhist monks do not solemnize marriage ceremonies and that marriage is considered a secular matter.
The marriage rituals of reciting the vows prescribed in the sacred texts and lighting incense sticks, in front of the Lord Buddha, after which the monk blesses our union, would very special to us. We do not have any special expectations though, and we will be happy with whatever is possible.
We would of course pay for any expenses that may occur when arranging this, and we would also like to offer a gift to the Buddhist temple. We will be in Chengdu from the 6th to the 14th of may this year.
Our question is: Who would we contact to help us arrange this? Do you know of anyone recourseful and english speaking in Chengdu, who would be able to help us with this matter? Where would we go and who would we see?
