Lijiang or Kunming affected my the earthquake?

Hi, I'm planning to travel around Yunnan this next week (August 10 through 16), especially in Lijiang and the Tiger Leaping Gorge, then flying home from Kunming. I'm curious how the recent earthquake had affected the area? Is my plan safe or should I maybe choose a different part of China to head to?

Also, is there anyplace where I can check on weather Tiger Leaping Gorge is currently open?

Unless someone local or who is there come on this forum, you can just call your hotel and ask.

This earthquake did not affect the Lijiang area. I did not feel it in Kunming.

The areas involved are not of much interest to foreign tourists (Zhaotong 昭通 and Qujing 曲径。)

I've the same problem, we planned to arrive in Yunnan on August 14 and look forward to complete the tour around Kumming - Shangri la - Lijang - Dali City.

Do you deem it is safe and affordable?

Thanks!

I am travelling the in the sme time frame. I have experienced that after disasters that displaced people occupy all the hotels and hostels. I am going to call the hostel during business hours there.

#7 and #8 -- You both need to look at a map of Yunnan. It's a pity I cannot post one here.

All you need to do is locate Zhaotong on the map (in the NE of Yunnan Province) and then locate Lijiang (in the NW) and you will have answered your own question.

The Yunnan region is huge. Where the earthquake happened is no where near Lijiang or Kunming and the North West Region is not affected.

To put it in perspective the earthquake was actually closer to Chengdu / Leshan in Sichuan region than it was to Lijiang / Kunming.
