Atlantic City in the Winter?

Has anyone ever been to Atlantic City on a Sunday in December just for one night? I'm going to be in NYC for my honeymoon and really fancy a night at a Casino hotel. Is it worth it or will there be no one around, the hotels seem a lot cheaper than on a Saturday!

While it will not be hopping as much on a Sunday as a Saturday, you will always find folks in AC.

Depending on what you are looking for, the less people the better sometimes. Overall December is slow in AC with the natural exception of NYE.

Ractch25... If you want a chance at a better room and lower betting minimums at the tables, Sunday would be better. If you want that "vibe", Saturday would be the better night.

Considering that you will be on your honeymoon Sunday might be better . ( Almost) Everything will be open but not as crowded and hectic . No long lines at the buffets or waiting for a particular game table etc. more of an atmosphere where you can pay attention to each other , take photos , take your time .There will be lounges with bands at night and ,maybe a show or two at a casino or The House of Blues . I'm sure you'll want to enjoy the room and maybe the spa .

I think a Sunday nite will be a great nite. Again like the others have said, it'll be nice and quiet and you'll probably have your pick of tables & machines. Personally, I hate busy times--you can't get on low tables or they don't have them, and you can't get on any machines you want to play. I live nearby Mohegan Sun in CT, and people laugh at me because when I go there, it's almost always 7:00 or 7:30 on a Saturday morning.

The spa may close early though on a Sunday in December, so if you want spa treatments, you'd probably need to book that earlier in the day.

I go all the time on Sundays for just one (or maybe two) nights. There will be plenty to do, but the casino floor won't be overwhelmingly hectic. Since the winter months can be slow, be sure to call ahead and make sure anything you have your heart set on doing will be open.

Since you are going to be there for one night only, and you're on your honeymoon, I recommend the Borgata. It's the nicest property in Atlantic City and has great bars and restaurants. The rates in December should be reasonable, and the off-boardwalk location won't be as much of a factor in December. Be sure to let them know you're on your honeymoon, maybe they will show a little compassion and give you a nicer room!

Congrats,

Overall the Borgata is the nicest . But I actually prefer the nearby Harrah's because it is more of an over 30 crowd . Both of these will have large new sections open by December ,but both of these are in the Marina Area away from the boardwalk . On the boardwalk I would reccomend The Showboat ( north end ) ,Bally's or Caesar's(midtown) , or Tropicanna ( south end ) . Midtown is the more busy part of AC , but going outside the casinos might be very cold in December . It is 21degrees f. here about 100 miles north of AC right now at 3pm . AC will be a degree or two warmer .

You can go to whoot.com for some more information . You can also check prices at harrahs.com ( although they may not have prices for Dec. posted yet .
