AC or Foxwoods?

Hello,

I will be in NYC on april. I will have one day (monday morning until tuesday afternoon) to have fun in AC or Foxwoods.

I like to play poker. (low games).

I will rent a car in NYC to travel. What is the better place? AC or Foxwoods?

Regards,

Gustavo

I think I would pick AC over Foxwoods. Foxwoods has a very nice poker room and you pay lesss in tolls on the drive up but if its a real busy day you can have trouble getting a table. In AC you have a least 3 or 4 nice poker rooms to chose from.

Definitely AC over Foxwoods, for one it's much easier to get to (you can take a bus right to a casino door). And, as the previous poster said, you will have a lot more options once you get there. An overnight room on a Monday should be relatively inexpensive, some of the casinos run packages that include food, shows, and/or drinks. Foxwoods is nice and definitely worth seeing, but in terms of convenience and options available to you, AC is your best bet. Try the Borgata first, then Tropicana or Taj Mahal.

Have fun,

If for no other reasons than choice and variety, I go to AC.

Thank you for the kind attention.

What is the best hotel to stay in?

I found on the net a rate of $149 for a double room at Borgata for one night (monday). At Bally's I can find a rate of $90.

Which one would be better?

Another suggestion?

Thank you again.

If you want accommodations in the swankiest property in AC, you should spring for the Borgata. Not only is it the nicest hotel, but has the best poker room (according to player surveys). They have excellent drink service, including bottled beer. The downside is there are no bus trips from NY, but you can take Greyhound or NJ Transit to the AC bus depot and get a cab or jitney from there.

Bally's is okay, but be aware there are other hotels adjacent and you could end up in one of the older rooms that's not even part of the main building. Without any player's card status I doubt you'd have a lot of say in where they stick you. Still, you will be in walking distance to a few other casinos.

Wherever you decide to stay and gamble, be sure to sign up for a player's card, so on your next trip to AC (accept it, there wil be others!) you might at least get a free room.

Good luck,

Thank you a lot.

I will choose between Borgata ($149) and Hilton ($80). I will rent a car in NYC to go to AC.

Since you are renting a car I'd agree with the Borgota. A great place and since you have transportation you can go to the boardwalk casinos when you want.

The Borgata is a nicer/fancier/larger Casino and will be easier to drive to . Get off the Garden State Parkway at Rt 30 and keep going about 8 miles untill you see the directions for Marina Area - Bogata . Follow the signs carefully . They are confusing . Make sure you ask for a transfer when you leave a casino . This will give you free parking at another casino . Be aware that there is No Smoking in AC except in Smoking rooms and in the gaming areas . After Apr.15th 75% of the gaming areas will be non smoking also .

I live in CT 25 mins door to door from Foxwoods & Mohegan Sun. I go to AC once a month. What does that tell you? The casinos up here have no one to compete with other than each other-which is no competition at all. Their comp programs are horrible, & they have no cashback programs. One of my office buddies won $18k playing blackjack & he can't even get a free room on the w/e at Foxwoods. AMAZING.

AC gives you more choices & better comps. If you travel all the way to CT (well about the same distance time-wise but the CT highway is a nightmare filled with road construction & major accidents daily) you'll only have those 2 casinos to choose from & you have to drive back & forth between them a 15 min drive. At least in AC you can walk from casino to casino or drive down from the Borgata to the boardwalk. And save your parking receipt you'll get free parking at most places. All of us here on this forum seem to vote for AC!! I wonder why :)
