Went ot AC to celebrate by wife's birthday. I had a comped room at Showboat and she had a certificate for a free lobster dinner for her birthday as part of the Palm 837 club membership.
Arrived at Showboat and took the cheap route of free self parking for gold members as valet for gold was $10.00. Check-in went smoothly. Had a room in the Orlean tower that was ok, but nothing special. I'll post a review on the rooom in the hotel section. We had some time to kill before dinner so we hit the slots. I found a party spin quarter machine that kept giving me a little at a time. When it was time to leave to dinner I was up $70.00.
Dinner at the Palm was good as usual, valet on Pacific Ave just outside the Palm and the Palm validates your ticket for free valet parking.
Back to the Showboat. Went looking for the party spin machine that was good to me and found a young lady playing "my" machine! Waited until she cashed out, looked like she was winning also. I sat down and started playing and won an additional $50.00 and cashed out. Gave up my lucky machine to my wife, after all it was her birthday.
She's doing pretty good on the machine also. An older woman sits down next to my wife and all of a sudden my wife starts saying how her eyes are burning and she is tearing up pretty good. My wife has some strong allergies and we both thought the woman that sat down next to her was wearing something she was allergic to. So my wife gets up to get some air and I sit down to save the slot for her. After about 5 minutes my wife comes back a little better after finding a bathroom and washing her face. She sits down to play again and complains that her glasses are spotty. I take them off and see her glasses are spotted with an oily substance at which time we realize she was hit with pepper spray that had to be sprayed from the other side of the machine she was playing on. At first I though it was probably someone maliciously spraying the pepper spray into the air but as the night went on I was wondering if it was attempt to get her away from her slot and someone coming up to cash out and steal her ticket. Luckily for her she was wearing her glasses and not her contacts as her glasses took most of the spray.
Just another thing we have to think about when in a casino gambling. We probably should have reported it but didn't and security seemed real light, there were more security guards watching a closed off section of slots than I saw anywhere else.
The good news is my wife okay and the machine was pretty good to my wife also and she cashed out ahead. While walking back to our room we passed the large wheel of fortune nickel machine and mentioned how I was interested in how it worked so we stuck a $20.00 in and cashed out with $60.00. All told we were left ahead just under $200.00. Not the big wins that I've seen posted here but for me my first winning visit in about a year. I think the key was not being gready and be happy I got a comp room and $200.00 in just a couple hours of play. Normally I would have taken the $200 to a dollar machine hoping to double it only to watch it disappear.
So another birthday tale to be told by wife, free room, good dinner, pepper spray and win money, a day to remember in AC.
