This past Satuday Mary and I were house hunting in Lanoka Harbor NJ about an hour from AC . I got a desire for a buffet .
We had a late lunch up at Roy Rogers in Bayville so we went to Harrah's first where we got a couple of Pina Coladas and I went through $100 pretty quickly on the slots . The place was very crowded . I could have gotten 3X rewards credit for my play but I didn't have the postcard with me . I wonder why they make you put those cards in the drum instead of just having you check in at the kiosk . Then we went over to the Showboat and headed straight over to the Taj Buffet . We passed a huge line of bachelorette parties waiting to get into the male revue at the HOB . There was a panhandler on the bridge over to the Taj .
There was no line at the buffet as it was now about 8:30 . Food was excellent . Nice little steaks cooked to order , king crab legs , BBQ pork Ribs , Chicken Parm , and lots more . The service was also excellent . In fact I wanted to hand the server a better than usual tip and get his name .( I was going to drop a note to the Taj .) But when we came back from the desert bar he had gone off duty .
After dinner we passed the new "Plate" restaurant . I've heard not too good things about the food there but it looks really nice for a 24 hour shop . We looked around the gift shop . Pricey but nice .
The Taj had some sort of a special Indian entertainment going on in one of the ballrooms and it was packed with well dressed Indian people . We played slots for the time the show was on . Broke even . Funny thing We were playing blazing 7's where you have to play $1.80 ( I think ) to get full action ( otherwise the 7's don't count for anything ) . An Indian woman playing next to Mary was playing two nickles - one line . She hit for a a $5 payout and then a $10 payout and then she switched machines where she continued to play 10 cents a spin .
I was playing "boardwalk fries" penny machine when the show got out and the place got mobbed . I had just hit for a $100 bonus on a 20 cent bet ( one credit per line ) . So I cashed out and we headed back to the Showboat . Going back past the Casbah we at first thought we heard a fight going on . But it was just a rap song being played in the lobby to keep the 100 or so people on line "upbeat and in the mood" . We must have hear the rapper use the *F* word in various ways at least 50 times in the time it took us to get into the Showboat . Does A.C. really need that ? !
We went to the nickel spin poker ( 2.25 per spin ) Mary lost $20 on a real cold machine . I hit for $85 right away so she just had a drink and watched me play. I finished up about $50 ahead on this machine . It was about 1:30 am , the casino was pretty empty ,and we headed back home
