Slot points vrs VP points?

I was told to play VP and not slots and I would earn more points?

If the slots five you 1 point for every $5.00 and VP pays 1 point for every $10.00 how would I be earning more points?

I understand VP is better to play in the long run but is it as good in the short run also?

I hear so many stories how the 9/6 and 8/5's are going away???

Could someone clear this up for me?

If you learn how to play perfect stratedgy poker you will have a slight edge on the house if you find the games with the best pay tables. Skill is a factor and that is why they require a higher coin in value per point.

(BTW - the El Coretz in Vegas still has a couple of 10/7 machines!!)

Ambrva

My Wife and are are booked for Dec 2nd to the 7th at Paris I have never been to El Cortez and I will give it a try.

I play 99% slot's and usualy the Triple Diamonds.

So playing VP is a big step into the unknown with me. I did download Win Poker, the shareware version and I just might buy it.

But am I relying on perfect play for longer play hence more comp points?

Depends on your definition of 'short run'. Jacks or Better (JOB) has the least volatility. When you start getting into the 'bonus' games, the volatility goes up.

Don't play for comps though.

I guess it wold be possible to get more points playing VP if you were able to play that well that you put much more of their money in the machine, but I wouldn't expect that to happen for most folks.

Win Poker is a fantastic program. I use it and have done well. I concentrate on JOB and play *almost* perfect. (Some of the weird plays I'm not totally sure of.) But it has definately improved my game/

If you go to www.wizardofodds.com and dig around, you'll find he's got 3 strategies: simple, intermediate and optimal. The difference in expected payback between optimal and simple is something like .08 percent. That's not 8%. That's .08%. The simple strategy has much fewer rules and can be printed out and tucked in your wallet, which is what I've done :)

BTW - the El Cortez is downtown. From where the bus drops you off at the Fremont St. Experience make a right and walk 2 blocks down Fremont St. There are only a couple 10/7 machines (you'll have to look for them - they move them around) but there is lots of 9/6 machines.

If you go chech out their steakhouse Roberta's. They have great crabcakes! The (slightly scary looking) Mexican restaurant across the road is pretty good too.

During one of my trips a few months ago, the Dollar VP machines at Caesars up near the Diamond Club were giving full comp (1 tier for $5 in). But my next trip they were back to normal (1 tier for $10 in). I don't know if it was a computer glitch or done on purpose. The VP downstairs at that time still required $10 in.

But getting back to roger's original question, at most locations you only receive half of the comp for VP compared to slots due to the fact that your odds are much better with VP, so they don't comp you as much because you are not taking as much of a risk. The lowest comps you receive are those games where you have the best chance of beating the casino (i.e. Craps and other table games).

I think the comps are also lower for VP because it plays slower ( Deal , think, draw vs. spin .) .

I hope the " unknown flagger" doesn't get this thread taken down lol !

Looks like at Trump Plza it's $25 per point for VP. Consider $10/point at HET a bargain!
