Yesterday's News Re: September Earnings in AC

It was announced Friday on ABC News that Atlantic City Casino's had reported "the worst September (earnings) in the last 14 years." Ouch.

I noticed that some of the hotel room rates have gone way down (ie Caesar's $99/night and Harrah's at $69/night during part of Xmas Week).

Good time to book a trip and support the workers out there while we still have some money ourselves!

Hopefully, things will get better.

Not the total smoking ban but the 25/75 thing was in effect September.

A nocence to some of us smokers.

Well we cut our trips from monthly to quarterly (the other 2 months are spent in PA casinos), since last year when the 75/25 went into effect. Since the total ban 10/15, we haven't been down at all and do not expect to until its lifted. All trips to PA casinos the casinos are packed on weekends and very busy during the week.

"It will, when smoking comes back..The Penn. casinos are packed."

I've been to Harrah's Chester 4 times in the past 8 weeks. It has been far from packed. 3 of the 4 times when I was playing electronic blackjack, I was the ONLY person at the table almost the whole time I was playing. That had never happened on previous visits when I occasionally had to wait for a seat to open up.

Vegas just announced the highest unemployment in decades with hundreds of casino, hotel and restaurant workers losing their jobs.

This isn't about AC. It isn't about smoking. It is about the economy and it is affecting gaming revenue and crowds all across the country.

I was at Caesars on Tues 10/28 then the Taj on Mon 11/3 both times during the day and I could not get on any of my favorite machines! It was quite crowded. But I did notice that there were people playing the penny machines at ONE PENNY!!! And the multi-play nickel VP had a lot of folks playing only one nickel at a time. I remarked to my husband that it looked busy but if folks are not gambling much on each pull then the revenues are going to tank. I guess the "senior bus-trippers" are really feeling the pinch from the economy.

I'm getting tons of offers from AC and LV for free rooms. You can tell that things are bad when I start getting room offers! I'm not the lowest roller in the world (definitely not a penny at a time person), but I'm not a whale by any means. Even Borgata and Mandalay Bay are sending me offers for free rooms. And I've never played at Mandalay Bay.

I have also been getting crazy good Vegas offers-

Monte carlo, 3 nights free, slot play, food credit

(I have not been there in almost 3 years)

And Venetian/Palazzo free suites, slot credits, dining $$

(went once, played 45 minutes)

and the usual HET freebies are filling up the mailbox. I wish I was retired so I could take advantage of more offers!!!!!

and, after 3 years of Borgata play, finally room comp for 7 days a week instead of Sun-Thurs

My play there has not increased so it was a nice surprise

I've also started getting Vegas offers, and good ones, too. Rooms starting at $32 dollars/night. Too bad I have to work for a living and don't have the time to take advantage of all of these offers, especially the give-aways in AC.
