Buses ac to nyc

I am a little confused and hope someone can help me.

I am going to be in Atlantic City next week and plan to go to NYC for the day.

I have found a Greyhound schedule and I also see there is a New Jersey Transit bus.

Are these one and the same? Or are there two different companies offering this service?

I thought maybe one company used the other companys buses.

If anyone has done this please let me know what to expect.

Thanks

Greyhound & NJTransit [public transit] are different. You want to take Greyhound [or another private service] to an AC casino [not the bus stn] as you'll get a discount in the form of Slot Dollars

NJ Transit and Greyhound are different. They also have a Academy Bus line that goes to NY.

Do you recommend one Greyhound, NJ Transit, Academy more than the other?

I will already be in Atlantic city and am going to New york and back for the day.

I would seek out a bus that has the least stops [express if the have them]. I know NJTransit has a plethora of stops.

I think I am going with Greyhound.

There price is about the same as NJ Transit.

They also have a restoom on board and for a round trip they sell a flex ticket which I can use at any time to return that day. Don't have to book return time in advance.

Only thing is I will probably have to take a taxi cause the terminal is two miles from where I would be. NJ was closer.

I think Greyhound only stops in Newark but maybe not because their time is 25 minutes faster than NJ.

Where in Atlantic City will you be? Greyhound picks up at some of the casinos.

I take Greyhound from DC all the time with no problems - except the bus is sometimes late. Also the bus going from AC to NYC will be very crowded - make sure you get there and get in line early so you get a seat.

We are staying at the Tropicana.

I will have to check and see if they pick up there.

We were planning on the 8 am bus on Thursday.

I didn't know if that would be crowded?

How early should we get there?

I don't know if it stops at the Trop on the NYC routes. It does on the Washington, DC routes on some of the schedules.

Even if you left from the station, you wouldn't need to take a taxi. The station is near Ballys - I've walked from there to Trop and I not one of those people that likes to go walking around all over.

I'd call them and find out which casinos the 8am bus from AC stops at and if it stops at the casinos first or at the station. Most people on that bus will be people from NYC going home. I know it sounds crazy (to me it does anyway), but a lot of people from NYC and DC will take the bus down in the evening, gamble all night and take an early bus home in the morning.

I would go to wherever the bus is going to stop first and be there at least 1/2 hour early to ensure getting a seat.

I've taken the AC to NYC NJ Transit bus several times and it's pretty convenient. It only stops once in Toms River and the ticket I think is flexible for several days if not weeks.
