"Free" drinks-ugh!

The last time I was in AC,I found myself a slot machine and was doing ok for about 5 minutes. The waitress came by and I ordered a drink. Twenty minutes and $40 later I got my "free" drink. This has happened more than once. I'm not complaining about the amount of time it took to get the drink---I know they're busy. I just hate being tied to a machine that's not paying. Sometimes I get up and sort of hang around the machine but then people think you're loitering.

Anyway, next time I'm thinking of just buying a drink at the bar and getting it in a plastic cup. All in all, I think it might be cheaper.LOL

I also hate lingering, but have been successful in finding a machine nearby & continually craning my head around to spot the cocktail server & wave, saying 'Hi, I'm the [insert drink name], I moved.'

>>just buying a drink at the bar and getting it in a plastic cup<< A plastic cup is not neccessary, you can take a cocktail glass to a slot, unless of course you want to take it to the boards/beach. While open alcoholic beverages on the boards/beach is illegal, most casino bars have large plastic TOGO cups available, just ask.

You don't need to stay at the exact same machine, just go to a different nearby one and keep an eye out for her, or stay at the one you are at and play super slow. She doesn't care how much or how fast you are playing! No reason to dump money in the machine if you don't want to.

That happens to me every now and again. I don't stay at machines to wait for a drink anymore. It's never worth it. It never works out that I have a string of good luck while waiting. I'd rather just buy a drink if I'm in need. It's definitely cheaper.

I bounce around quite a bit at the slots. I usually wear a hat and sometime tell the waitress she might as well not look for me at my current machine but to look for my hat somewhere in the vicinity.

Not so easy at the tables. I have gotten "free" bottles of beer at Mini-Bac that cost me $100. That's irritating but its still my choice to keep playing rather than stand around & wait for it.

This happens all the time. I think it is a ploy to get you to gamble more. The last time I was in AC in April, I dropped $30 bucks in a penny machine at Ballys waiting for some cranberry juice.

Its no big conspiracy on the casinos part, the cw's have a lot of floor space to cover and the bartenders at the service bars handle all of the drinks, so that slows them down even more. Be patient and slow down your gambling if you're going thru your money too fast.

really? a ploy?

Doesn't common sense tell you a waitress collects several orders, has to walk to the bar with them, and wait for them all to be filled, then walk back with all of them, then start handing them out? Of course it will take several minutes, don't order the drink if it's that big of a deal to wait for her to return with it. Or, don't hit the spin button while you wait for her to come back. Or, keep a flask in your purse if "drinks on demand" is needed! LOL

Great concept Barb, drinks on demand!

Have them install vending machines above each slot machine, just push a button and you have a perfectly mixed drink.

It could revolutionize the casino floor.

I would give some play to any casino that installs the "drinks on demand" concept, LOL

I would prefer Stella, on tap, installed next to any dollar 9/6 JoB machines, in case any casino exec's are lurking...... Of course, I will also need a restroom nearby. And, some decent live music. Oh, and please don't put any "Wheel of Fortunes" too close. Sure, they are fun to play, but really annoying to listen to if you are not playing. Also, I will need that area smoke-free.
