TR Caesars 10/20-10/22 & Vanished Comps

We (my son and I) just got back from a short 2-day trip to Caesar, and for us the visit was great. We were comped in the beautiful Centaurian rooms, the weather was perfect, we had lunch at Bill's Gyros (best gyros we've had in years), and we both won a little extra money. Now comes the part I need advice and opinions on from others. My daughter and her boyfriend checked in on Monday 10/19, but they didn't arrive until 11:30pm. Since the Total Rewards desk was closed, a woman from the cashiers cage issued a temporary TR card to my daughter's boyfriend; my daughter already has a card, so she knows the importance of getting one before you gamble. The woman told him to just use the temporary card until his permanent one was mailed to him, which would be about 2 weeks. He used the card all day Tuesday at Caesar's and Bally's, and it did show his reward credits and tier that day, but the next day we went to Harrah's and when he put the card into a card reader there, it showed "Invalid Card". He immediately when to the Total Rewards desk there, and the woman asked for his ID, tried to look it up, and then told him that he wasn't even in their system! We returned to Caesar's Total Rewards desk, explained everything to the young lady helping us, and she immediately issued him a permanent TR card; the problem is that although she was able to transfer his rewards credits to the new card, she said that any offers (free meals, promos, etc.) that he earned while he used the temporary card were gone. Now this was his first time in AC, and my daughter and I had to talk him into going by telling him what a great time he'd have, and how much fun the HET properties were; needless to say he was very disappointed at the turn of events. I told him to email Caesars when he got home and ask if they could honor his playing time by giving him some offers, but is there anything else he should do? He spent over $1200 in Caesar's casino in 1 day, and I hate to see him spend that much and not get all his offers. Thanks to everyone for any help and advice you can give me! Jan

Hi Jan,

Unless the permanent card to the temporary one he got (I've never heard of them doing this) shows up in 2 weeks, his play on the first day is probably gone.

I'm confused - you say that TR was able to transfer his reward credits and points to the permanent card, so I don't see where he lost anything. Whatever he earned playing on the temp card was put on the permanent card?

Give me more info so I can take abetter whack at your question.

first off im sorry that happened to him. in all honesty i dont have a clue or suggestion, but i am confused as to what a temporary tr card might be? i mean they either print you one out or they dont am i wrong?. or was the temp they gave him something he could use when playing table games?

seems to me if he is in the computer,or was in the computer then he should have shown up,that is unless the temporary didnt get into the het wide sysstem ,maybe they will show up later if the temporary accounts take somne time to key in???? just guessing.

I'm as confused as all of you--I never heard of a temporary card, either. He didn't tell me about his temporary card until AFTER we found out that it didn't work at Harrah's; if I'd know before that I would have had him return to the TR counter and get a permanent right away. ACmama, when the young lady that issued him his permanent card said that any offers that he was eligible for while using the temporary were gone, I assumed she meant all those nice offers that we get from HET every month in our mail or on the "My Offers" page at Harrah's website. The temporary card didn't have his name on it--it said "Temporary Member", and when it was put in a card reader it read"Hi Harrah's Guest", rather than his name. a1copyguy, he only played slots, and I don't believe the woman that gave him the card even asked what he was going to play. Whatever happens, I think that Caesar's needs to make sure that everyone that issues a TR card knows the right way to do it--either the woman from the cashiers cage didn't know how to do it, or she just didn't want to be bothered.

well maybe there really is such a thing if it said guest when he swiped it???????? again my only thought on it may be that his play was recorded, but since he was....temporary,it needs to gey keypunched in manually so it just might not show up right away. only saying this because you said it showed his play at caesars and not harrahs. again, never heard of a temporary card but i nbelieve what your saying, just never heard of it.

When he was given the temporary card, did the woman take his contact info? My thought is that if they took his info, the card most likely is coded and they will add his play to his permanent card when it is issued.

but like everything else, they will probably drop the ball.

Assuming the temporary card has a number on it - TR numbers usually have 11 digits - he can put that into the Harrah's website if he created a pin number and see what it says. If not, I'd advise him to contact support on the http://www.harrah.com website. Click the "Contact us" box and detail just what happened - I've found the people there much more knowledgeable and helpful than personnel at theactual casinos.

He should be able to get some kind of resolution, as $1200 played through on slots could have created anywhere from about 250 to 2000 base tier points and it would really be a shame to lose them.

Best of luck!

Bill, I'll answer you first--he said that when the woman gave him the temporary card she entered his driver's license info into the computer, but when the TR clerk at Harrah's tried to look it up, she said there was nothing showing up for his name. Venssuz, the temporary card did have a number on it, but he wasn't asked to create a pin number. I know that he's already emailed Harrahs, so hopefully they can help.

They should be able to look up the play on the temp card, based on the number on it and combine that play to his perminate card

There won't be any offers posted yet. The only thing that he has on his card after the first visit are rewards credits and tier points. Those should transfer to the permanent card. As far as offers go, he probably won't see anything for two to three months. It takes a few months for the marketing department to get started.
