March 7th & 8th Trump TR
We arrived at Taj before noon and the casino was packed. Played slots as DH checked into poker but the waiting list was long so he joined us on the casino floor. Found a few of my favorites and hit the bonues to keep even for the day. Stopped off to pick up the gift of the day….400 count queen sheets.
We did walk the boardwalk and the weather was great and the boards were busy. The line for Phillips on the boardwalk was about 15 deep and many sat around the shops eating pizza….felt abit like summer. Stopped by the Plaza and played for about 30 minutes before the walk back to Taj.
By 3 the check in line was about 40 deep and the valet parking was packed so we waited about 15 minutes to get the car back and head to the Marina for checkin.
Couldn’t believe the crowd for a Sunday at the Marina. Check in was quick and we were upgraded to a suite on the 27th floor with a great view. It was 3X the tier day and 5X the slot bonus so maybe that helped bring in the people. Tried to get a seat at Spanish 21 or Flop Poker but all 4 tables were crowded.
So found my favorite slots and played til 6. Dinner options that night were still for restaurant week so we tried DJ’s. I have eaten there several times so thought well the food is good. This was a big disappointment. I had a spinache salad, prime rib with potates. Ordered the rib medium well. First time it came out so rare I couldn’t even look at it. DH’s and my sister’s meal was cooked perfect so I waited 10 minutes for it to come back out cooked. Ate abit of DH’s since the servings were so big…if I had know that I probably would have skipped my steak and just had an appetizer. It finally came back out and I ate around the edges but the center was still too rare. The waiter didn't return and I didn't want to wait again and by then I was about full. Left well over 4/5 of the steak and ½ the potatoes on the plate when we finished. Dessert was just so so.
Used my comps for the meal and then back to the casino floor.
Drink service for such a busy night was fast. Pet pevy was 2 ladies seated to my right who ran the CW ragged and never tipped. She remembered what I was drinking and stopped by several times with a drink for my sister and I all ready made. Can’t beat service like that. Finally sat down at a Spanish 21 table and went through 2 shoes. Could lose a hand if the dealer had a 10 showing I would hit and catch 21. That brought me back for the trip.
Biggest problem I had with the casino was the smoke was so thick my eyes were burning and by 9:30 went up to the room for fresh air and a break. Picked up 2000 tier to keep my Chairman card for another year. The pit boss was great with the points and I played one slot on $20 for 2 hours before it finally gave out.
My last 4 trips to AC have been split between the Marina and Taj. And I have decided to change my home casino to Taj unless we have some special tournament or meeting friends who are staying there. The Marina has been our place to stay for 5 years and the Chairman Club is bright and big but closes by 7 pm and the smoke has been working on me each trip. At Taj I know I will get a big and quiet room in the Chairman Tower , more choices of restaurants and my clothes don’t need to be burned after wearing in the casino.
