Harrahs has become way too STINGY!

I've been a diamond cardholder with Harrahs for the past 3 years and have only once before (last year) asked my host for a comped room on a weekend, which he gladly gave me. Otherwise, I never ask for anything special, and was always content with having free rooms Sun-Thurs and sometimes on Fridays. Today I call my host to request a room for a weekend/Fri and Sat next month, to celebrate an anniversary, and he tells me that he cannot offer those nights comped, but instead for a total of approx. $300 (before taxes of course)! When I asked why would I be charged instead of comped, he said I haven't given Harrahs enough of my time.

I cannot tell you how annoyed and dismayed I am about this. I have been a loyal patron of Harrahs, finishing the 2009 year at over 30,000 tier points. This year, I only made one trip so far, and racked up 3,000 tier points. How much more time do they need??

With declining casino revenues, and increasing competition from other casinos, I cannot believe how stingy and foolish Harrahs is. I have no entitlement issues, and realize that $300 for a weekend is a good rate, but for someone who has in fact given so much time to an establishment, and asked for so little in return, this is very bad way to do business, in my humble opinion.

that sucks, but it seems to coincide with the general belief that HET for low players (i.e gold) = great, but as you start moving up in rank, it sucks.

as a lowly gold player, i don't mind HET at all. i'm still able to get the nice caesars rooms midweek, and on my last trip to harrahs in Jan, i was able to get upgraded to the waterfront tower at no charge.

you should consider switching your play to another AC property - you could probably get a lot better perks

I don’t think $300 for a weekend next month is that great. That’s about what many gold card members can get. It does seem Harrah’s is trying to squeeze many regulars. We were quoted $99 for an extra room that I Googled and could have gotten for $65—with a few more hidden tricks I got it comped! I’m not sure if they make more money or lose customers with these policies?

I can only speak for myself, but Harrahs will end up losing me as a customer, as opposed to making more money off of me. I feel badly about this, but how can I continue to give my business to an establishment that clearly doesn't value me as a patron?

I am more than a little upset for you. I refuse to pay for a room on principle, and as a result I spend very few Fridays and NO Saturdays in AC. We have made one trip this year, and it may be the only trip - - -at least until summer when I can actually take advantage of the "midweek freebies."

Hey, here's an idea: Let's get together 8 or 10 diamond members and rent a Saturday night room together -- say $30 each -- ,We'll bring a cooler, get loud, get sick in public, and maybe we can take a couple doors off their hinges to "unwind." It's my understanding that's the customer Harrah's is courting these days. :):)

Very short sighted on their part to deny a reasonable request such as yours from a long-term, steady Eddie customer. Dummies.

i'll never understand why people just dont get the fact that atlantic city has limited space. they also have a limited season. they do not have the rooms like vegas does. a weekend , especially in spring/summer, is full capacity. the other thing most people dont get is that their play is valued by the casino but the number of people valued more is higher. 30k tier a year is loyal play but you are behind the people who get 30k a month. those people are behind the people who get 30k a week and those people are behind the people who get 30k a day...

I do not have a host in Atlantic City, was similar to you with tier points last year and just called reservations last night for Memorial Day weekend, I got all 3 nights comped. When you checked on the website, what did it say?

There are ways to get a free room from the evil empire...... Log in with your act and go to reservations and select date at times it comes up free. If not then log in again and if you know someone that is diamond put their companion card # in and most of the time that gets you a free room on the weeekend try it. It always works for me. beats paying 300 for a room that you'll hardly be in!!

We are still from the school that if you gamble, you get a room. Many of us, whatever our play level, have experienced decent comps in the past for even minimal play. It was at the descresion of the host, pit boss etc. It's hard to accept that we gamble more and get less. I think the next generation, the ones who Harrah's seems to be targeting, are willing to pay for rooms, even if they get a casino rate it's a score for them. I just want to see what happens to the casino's when that demographic gets to be our age and are not loyal gamblers. The casino's were built from gambling money NOT revenue from the pool crowd.

i agree with the suggestion of bypassing the host and booking online.

ive had 2 host in ac over the last 2 years and outside of getting show tickets once,i havent gotten anything from them.

i can only imagin how low my status with them will have dropped by the time i get back there since ive been staying home saving up for a vegas trip,so when i go back to ac in may,or june or even july ill probably get a room in the hallway.
