Borgata Black Card Blues

For a number of years I was a Borgata red card player and received mailed offers of up to 2 nights a week (Su-Th) of comped rooms. Requests for weekend rooms were always rejected with the suggestion that "we need to see just a little bit more". I did that, stepping up my wagering to the point that I was earning 40-80 comp dollars each day ( Can't tell you how much "coin in". I know at the end of the day if I've won or lost, but I am not good at keeping track of "money in").

In the process I became a Black Card holder. Now I am sorry that I did. All of a sudden, my mid-week comp offers disappeared and my mailers invited to spend close to $200 a night for weeknight rooms that were previously gratis. I thought there was some mistake, but calls to the Borgata were of no help. I was told that "a little more" would be helpful.

Meanwhile, my red-card holding niece, who plays penny slots at a very modest level and earns about 200 comp dollars a year keeps getting offers for free (Su-Th) rooms. (I did not mention this when I called as I did not want to screw up her thing). From chatting with others in the casino, her situation is not unusual.

While the $10 buffet is a nice perk, it and free parking seem to be the sole benefits of having a Black card. I'd rather have a modestly priced room and pay full price for the buffet and parking. I prefer gambling at the Borg, but I get the feeling they'd rather I go elsewhere. Anybody else have experience with or suggestions about this?

that doesant sound right?.

now i do sort of believe the best offers come either after a monster play kind of trip,or after you have stayed away and they start to miss you.

somethings not right,id get ahold of a suit next time your intown and if that wont help, try giving someone else some of that hard play

that senario doesnt seem right to me if true.if you cant get that situation rectified i would bolt.I completly gave up on het and stayed a night at the taj .one night and am impressed with my offers for suites sunday thru fri. comp and slot dollars also.meaning they were very reactive to my play.the one catch to my situation is I played at 5 tables and won on all. good luck.

Hey friends...my situation is exactly as described. Did not expect to find that you did not believe me. " doesant sound right?." and " if true." were not the helpful hints I had hoped for, but thank you for reading my post.

I had thought maybe others had experienced similar, or could recommend a friendly/reasonable "suit" who might be of assistance. If anybody has one.....

maybe it's just me, but i believe "that doesant sound right" was a sympathetic nod in your direction. the same person who said that then went on to suggest you "get a hold of a suit," so it doesn't exactly sound like he doesn't believe you. and the other poster told you to bolt if you can't get the situation resolved. i think both posters were supportive of your plight.

the "if true" qualifier seems to me like - with the limited information we have - we're searching for some other possible answer. i don't think anyone is doubting that this has happened to you... but based on the knowledge that many of us have (or think we have) regarding casino operations, we're questioning if there isn't something else that's negatively affecting your ADT and your ability to get the rooms you want.

as for somebody offering up a high level contact at the borgata, that's certainly possible, if somebody has such a contact. but this was your very first post. and that would be a bit like meeting somebody new on the street and having them recommend you for a job, even though they don't know you.

when somebody recommends somebody else to a host or a suit, it's a reflection on the one who recommends as much as on the one who is recommended. i have no such contact at the borgata, but i'd personally be reluctant to send somebody to an important contact i do have elsewhere, without knowing more about the person i'm referring or having established a personal relationship with him or her, even if it's only a virtual one..

OK ... fair enough

I have been a "lurker" hereabouts for so long (not that anybody could or would know that) that I feel right at home. My "lurkings" led me to conclude that there are some very knowledgeable and thoughtful AC'ers here and thus I turned to this resource.

Did not mean to be presumptuous... was merely wondering if others had experienced similar silliness from Borgata... Borg's behaviour has been so counter-intuitive and so confounded me that I became curious if this was perhaps the casino's M.O.

A very sincere, albeit virtual, thank you and tip of my hat to all

You should keep checking back on the reservations page to see if that changes. Under "My Offers" it shows that I can get a free any night between now and Sept 30th, but sometimes if I call up the calendar a lot of them will not show as "comp". Yet if I check back a couple days later, they do. It might be for a reason (though I wouldn't know what), or it might be a quirk in the system. Either way, I usually don't give up after the first try, as eventually I find most dates open up.

Good luck, LuvBreezes

I'd be curious as to what happens in the long run. I hope the OP will let us know what happens.

I would love to jump ship to Borgata, but I am loyal to HET properties, but I find that Borgata treats me well, although I don't like the attitude of most of the waitresses (I've commented on that before!).

Good luck. I know we all wish you well. I too am Black Label, but we only stay at HET properties, so the hotel offers don't really apply to me. We have gotten some really nice offers in the past few years though - twice to free concerts and they were fantastic! So, I'm still going to keep going to Borgata and I too also love the Amphora Lounge. Can't be beat!

Just my take. I am now a firm belever that the longer you stay away the better offers you get. We are diamond at HET and had not been since April and had no plans to go till Sept and then boom open the mail box and I have two $250.00 slot play reel rewards that I can use 8/1/10 through 8/14/10 then another one for 8/15/10 through 8/2910 the wife has two $200 ones for same time frame and they even comped us rooms (Bayview) for the weekend Friday Saturday and Sunday. We even got some food coupons but most time we are LFB or RFB. I was floored this is our best offer ever and I still think its because we stayed away. I also think we will get very little in Sept when we are going down for three nights. I will wait to see what they send and maybe they will prove me wrong. Either way have a great rest of your summer.

Have you checked out the Amphora Lounge? I know this is a Black Label perk. Still only a red myself so I have not had the pleasure yet.
