After a long 3 months of work and our first chance to head to AC we booked a room at Trump Marina. We had thought about visiting the boat show but we were both tired and decided to check in and see if there were any changes to the casino. Our room was a corner suite on the 7th floor. Nice large room with 2 baths.
A nice walk outside in the brisk wind on the deck we decided to play awhile before having a bite. Not much had changed since our last visit in June. Accept for the 2 tables of $1.00 Blackjack that seemed to be packed most of the time. Tried a few of the slots and used up my bonus slot money quickly. Spent 4 hours playing Spanish 21 and ended up even after a few ups and downs. Had my best hand crushed by a new player hitting a hard 14 against the dealer’s hard 16 on 3rd base. She said oh well as she lost her $5 and my $75 and nicely split hand was scraped up as the dealer caught a 5.
We decided to try the Chairman’s Club and that was a big disappointment. The view and drinks were great but the food was really bad. This was the first time I can say there was nothing there besides the salad that was appetizing.
The next day we were up and left the casino by 8 am to hit the boardwalk for a change of pace. It was quiet on the boards as we walked from the Plaza to Wild Wild West. I wanted to check out the changes and see a friend who works there. The casino was quiet with a few slot players and not a table open. But the new lights up front by the gold miner caught my eyes. We tried a few machines but after being hit up a few times by panhandlers we decided to head out and walk.
Found a few Jacks Or Better 9/6 machines at the Plaza and sat and played for awhile but not a winning session. Checked out the casino floor and it was quiet accept at the tables. Sat and played a $10 Spanish 21 for several hours and the waitress service was great. Chatted with a pit boss about the Delaware casinos versus AC casinos and how a few of the part time dealers had left the Plaza for Delaware.
We finally got back on the road by 4 to caught the last ferry crossing. For a week after the Labor Day holiday Atlantic City was very quiet. I noticed for the first time in years of going there I didn’t have that excitement of the casino or the vibe……either we were too tired from a long summer of work or maybe or we are losing our attraction to AC.Edited: 11 September 2010, 23:46
Sorry the trip didn't re-energize you. You'll have a better stay next time! Bummer about the panhandling. I have a night at Caesars in a couple weeks and I'm beginning to wonder if that's a mistake. Usually stay at Borgata, where that has certainly never been a problem.
