So When You're Not Gambling Tell Us About Yourself

A few days ago TheJMommy found this post that Zeromus-X started in 2008. tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g29750-i78-k175499…

It was a really fun thread AND we have a lot of new posters since then, so I thought I'd revive it. It'd love to hear from everyone agai, as jobs, etc may have changed in the last couple years. I personally have changed jobs and my frequency of visits to AC, so I'd love to see everyone's updates. And I'd definately like to hear from our new friends. It would be also great if you told us your main motivation/favorite thing to do in AC.

I am a software tester for a non profit. I mainly work on our public websites but am occasionally tasked with work on some of our intranet projects (what I'm working on now). I have the best job in the world - I get to spend all day telling people what they did wrong. :-) (Just kidding, we really have awesome programmers, but it is still the best job I ever had.)

I am usually in AC two to three weekends a month. My coworkers get all excited when I mention I am going to AC for the weekend until they know me well enough to know that's what I normally do.

My favorite game is video poker. I know JOB is the best odds, but I like Double Double Joker poker because I have gotten the 4 Aces plus kicker more times than I've gotten a Royal (happened ONCE on JOB). Also DDJ doesn't penalize you for not betting max.

I go so frequently because I have a lot of friends in the area that I really enjoy spending time with over the weekend.

I can't wait to hear everyone's stories both new and old. (And thanks Will for starting this the first time. I hope you don't mind that I copycatted your topic!)

Since I never participated in the 1st poll I'll start it off

When I'm not gambling I like to ptck on Moneywho, OK, thats my hobby not my job but it is fun.

Actually, I am self employed as a Professional Photographer since 1976, My wife is a billing director in the Health Care field. We have two lovely children, one married, he is a talented artist and a starving one at that, fortunately he also has a job in the healthcare field which enables him to pay the bills. the other is very successful in the financial field, recently passing the CFA exam, she has done very well and has a bright future. My wife and I have been happily married for 35 years.

We go to AC once a month, always stay at Borgata and VP is our game of choice. We also visit the PA casinos on a regular basis, prob 2 or 3 times a month as we have 2 within 30 min of our residence. These are usually just quick 2 or 3 hr trips.

We love to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit many beautiful places. Our favoritr gambling destinations are Vegas, once a year, NOLA and San Diego.

I am also an accomplished cook and prepare all the family meals, enjoy golf, love sports.

I participate in 2 AC forums and have been fortunate enough to meet several members, all of whom are wonderful people, most have become good friends, look forward to meeting many more.

This NYE our gang ( Clique ? ) will be attending the party at Borgata, look out.

There you have it !

This is a refreshing topic!

My name is Sandy ("Lucy" is my uber-smart Border Collie who runs the house and neighborhood) and I live with my husband in a town between Baltimore and Washington, DC. Been to Vegas maybe 7 or 8 times for business trips, and always enjoy it. Started going to AC about 5 years ago after my brother "discovered" it and have gone maybe 4 or 5 times a year. I'm glad it takes me 3 hours to get there, since I think I may develop a dangerous gambling addiction if I had easier access!

In real life I am a director at the University of Maryland, and I'm getting close to 30 years there now! I started working there right after graduation, and have had the lucky opportunity to continue my education and to find interesting work to develop my career. Hubby is a self employed product designer (part artist, part engineer) who loves his work. Together we have a passion for travel and have had the good fortune to visit many interesting places in and outside of this country. We just recently returned from a 3 week trip through Australia, our second time there.

Closer to home, we have a boat that we use nearly every weekend in warm weather, exploring the Chesapeake Bay. My husband is also a private pilot, so we have fun taking short weekend trips around the area as well.

Cooking and baking are my personal passions, and I'm hoping to create a new career involving that when I retire from UM.

I'll be in AC this weekend, staying at Borgata and hoping to have another winning trip like I had last time. Good luck to all of you!

Hello, my name is Jennifer and I “may” have a gambling problem :-P

I picked TheJmommy because my kids names start with the letter J, I love J names! Ironically enough, my husband’s name also begins with a J. I have two children, a daughter (who’s 5) and a son (who’s 2) and will be working on number 3 shortly. I have a dachshund (wiener dog) whose named Max (I was outvoted). I’m trying to convince everyone to change it to Jax.

I’m a senior accountant, started straight out of college, (over 10 years in the field). I work for a firm in Westchester, which thankfully is located 5 minutes from my house. My husband is a fitness director. I frequently travel to Reno (my parents moved there 12 years ago) Vegas and Disney World (my other addiction).

You can say I have gambling in my blood, my parents started dragging me to Atlantic City since I was 8, LOVED going to TropWorld with the Tivoli Pier indoor amusement park. I go once or twice a month during the off season (May – Dec) but once tax season rolls around I’m lucky if I can sneak a trip during that time. I primarily stay at HET properties, well I guess its actually CET now.

My games of choice are Roulette and Let It Ride (crappy odds but lots of fun). I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some fellow TA members (who are a blast!) and look forward to meeting others.

9. Re: So When You're Not Gambling Tell Us About Yourself

My name is Dana. When I am not somewhere "playing," I am employed as an executive legal assistant to the former managing partner of the DC office/now vice chairman of a large NY-based law firm (read: head babysitter). (Well, he got a promotion, anyway!). I've been with this firm for the past 14 years and in the business for 21. I am (desperately) hoping to be self-employed in the travel industry within the next 2-3 years. (There . . . I put it out into the universe.)

I have been married officially for 9 years (unofficially for 17) to a big-hearted, big-bellied plumber, have two wonderful sons in the military (one Sailor in Virginia Beach and one Marine in San Diego soon to be in Quantico), one great daughter-in-law, two beautiful granddaughters (ages 4 and 3 months), one cutie-pie grandson (age 2), two lazy Beagles and one exuberant Labradoodle (isn't that so much fun to say!).

My mother (has lived with me for the past 15 years), my brother (the past 1-1/2 years) and niece (5 months) all make up my household and kinda explains the need for bi-weekly/monthly trips to AC, Dover and Chester!

I attended one Drunkfest several years ago and had the privilege of meeting a few of the then regulars: Ambrva1, rship, frankybarb, ozman, jpm14 -- all as nice and friendly as can be. I look forward to meeting many more in the days ahead. (Actually, heading to AC tonight through Saturday early afternoon -- if anyone is around, let me know!)

Warmest holiday wishes and lotsa luck to all!

10. Re: So When You're Not Gambling Tell Us About Yourself

Hi. I worked for the State of New Jersey for 38 years - I was the manager of a large Disability office and later the manager of a regional Unemployment office. In between those positions I worked in Trenton and among other duties, wrote letters for the Governor. I retired from the State in 2008. My wife and I go to AC 2-3 times per month, to Las Vegas 2 times per year and to Florida once per year. My favorite game is horse racing and then roulette. My retirement party was at Monmouth Park Race Track. My hobbies are taking pictures of celebrities and building miniatures of things like casinos..
