Sheryl Crow at Borgata 7/8/11

except for the standard comedy club offer, i almost never get comp tickets at the borgata. my play there just isn't that strong; that's mostly because i eat at the buffet a lot when i have slot dollar offers to download and i frequently low play or no play them.

lo and behold, i checked my borgata account online tonight and comps for sheryl crow popped in there for this friday night, july 8.

she's either way undersold or they really liked my two hours of WOZ penny play a couple of weeks ago in which i lost a grand total of sixty bucks. (probably the former.)

check your account, folks, if you have an interest in seeing sheryl; you may have a free ticket offer.

oh, i don't know that i'm going. i was just surprised to get the offer.

my girlfriend and i did see sheryl at a casino venue a couple of years ago and actually did a meet and greet with her along with a photo op before the show. that was fun... and the concert was fabulous. there's probably no way this could top that experience... so i'm thinking maybe i should just leave it at that!

Thanks for the heads up, but I was too late. I had the offer listed, but when I clicked on it, it said the tickets were "fully committed". They probably didn't have that many available.

It had to have been undersold. I got this offer, too. Borgata gives me practically nothing for free, especially in the summer months.

yup, the last time i remember this happening i think was for bill cosby. tickets suddenly appeared in people's accounts for two comedy concerts he was giving a year or so ago... and then vanished very quickly soon thereafter as people snatched them up.

I got the offer e-mailed to me this morning. I would have liked to go, but I'm saving my eardrums for Meatloaf next weekend.

Similar thing happened about a week ago when comp ticklets for Nils Lofgren (7/3) concert at Borgata appeared in my offers. Nils Lofgren (if you know who he is) is no Sheryl Crow. And if you don't know who he is, he's definitely no Sheryl Crow. I'm sure it was a severely undersold situation that led to the offer. Couldn't go anyway.

Yes definitely undersold since I got this offer. Unfortunately it came too late for me to attend. Same thing with Nils Lofgren (I don't know who this is???).

i attended a concert of "pink martini" at caesars last year that probably had less than 150 people in the audience. it was a great show, but they're a niche group and not well known to the general public. they couldn't - literally - give those tickets away.

it's a double edged sword when you try to offer comped tickets at the last minute; on the one hand, you want the house to appear full. on the other hand, it doesn't do the artist any favors to pad the crowd with people who are not genuine fans. (you find that a lot at casinos... some people are given free tickets but have little interest in the artist, but they go anyway. or they get on a roll and don't bother showing up at all, leaving primo seats empty. or they get bored and leave twenty minutes into the show.)

from the artists' perspective, most of them are working on a guaranteed payment when they appear at casinos... it's one of the reasons they love playing there. they don't have to "sell" a single ticket! so they rarely suffer, from a financial standpoint. but it's tough playing to empty seats down front or playing to people who don't "get " you and who may not be fans.
