The ball on top of Revel- on TV 40

As previously posted there is a ball sitting on top of Revel. There was a story about it last night on tv40. They are calling it a piece if art that will appear as though it will roll off the roof.

Thanks for that! I saw it from Showboat a few weeks ago and was wondering what it was.

It kinda reminds me of the globe of Atlas or Sisyphus' boulder. This photo reminds me more of Sisyphus. Maybe it a nod to Revel construction being a sisyphean feat. Anyone recall when construction started? I'm going to guess early 2007

Sounds like a waste of money, IMO.

I would prefer a bar with the great view, but I guess artwork is as good a name as any to call a ball to hide a bunch of ugly antennas. There’s a lot of money in those rooftop antennas, many are not that well hidden on the roofs of other casinos. So the highest building should be able to get top dollar.

Doesn’t the Trop also have a decorative sphere on top of their Havana Tower?

looks like the ball that drops at times square on New Years. It looks cheesey. I hope the building still has that strip of light that shines along the center of the building. It looked cool in the concept renders.

Considering the statement was it will appear like it will roll off the roof, I would if it will move with lights inside making it appear as if it is rolling. Considering the roof is slated towards the ocean it would look like it would roll towards the ocean. I guess we"ll know for sure in about 5 months.

The sphere atop Revel has some lights in it now. Not flashing lights.... we shall see what the future will bring

What color are the lights? Or are they just white lights for workers connecting the hidden antennas?

The lights are white. Maybe they'll change. Maybe at midnight. but I doubt I'll be awake to see that. I want to either go to the Mummers parade or polar bear plunge in front of Resorts on New Years Day, so I'm going to bed early
