Is Showboat That Bad?

I choose to stay at Showboat In March from Sun to Thursday over Harrahs. The price couldn't be beat for a premium room. However when I look at the reviews lately I haven't been seeing mixed reviews and some bad ones lately. I just wanted to know is it that bad at Showboat? My boyfriend and I just want to have a good time, gamble, walk on the boardwalk and have a great experience. Hoping these reviews are that bad. Have a great day!

If your comparing Showboat to Harrahs then yes it is bad. Having stayed at Showboat they really dont seem to care that much about their guest. Would I stay there from Sunday to Thursday even if free, NO> One day yes. I like Harrahs for the pool, better machines, better casino, better rooms. Overall a better experience , I would consider changing your reservation. If you want to be on the boardwalk try Ceasers.

We were there a few weeks ago Feb. 15-17.

We were in the New Orleans room it was really big and clean. The furniture was kind of worn and the TV was old but the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was fine, we bathtub was big enough for both of us.

We enjoyed it as much as Ceasars centurion rooms where we stayed the two time before this trip.

The casino had a good mix of people and the drink service was hit or miss except for Thursday night when the drinks were coming so fast that I had a hard time getting back to the room that night,

Have a great time.

Showboat isn't that bad. It may not have a pool like Harrahs and Borgata and as many clubs but for a place to stay its fine.

Some of the bad reviews for all casino rooms come from expectations because of the high weekend room rates. When you pay $300-$400 a night like some weekend rates you naturally have high expectations. The same room weekdays may be on sale for as low as $29-$59 and people are very satisfied. I know if I book a room for $400 I expect something special. If it turns out to be a standard room I'd be upset and give a bad review. Unfortunately the demand for rooms on weekends drives up the price and results in more bad reviews.

Here is Showboat reviews if anyone wants to look at them

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g29750-d92304-R…

And you have to take into consideration that some of these reviewers may have lost at the casinos and are taking that out in the review

We love showboat (stayed there 4 times). Last time I said to hubby, want to stay somewhere else, first he said yeah let's try something else, then said no lets go back to showboat. As said above, it's a nice mix of all ages. It has a mardi gras theme (reminded the first time we went of french quarter hotel at disney!). The casino area is bright and cheery looking. (on my profile I have a picture of the room we stayed in last time) We'll be staying there again in July (hopefully)!!

ShowBoat is fine, and with Revel opening it will be in a better location on the boardwalk too. Plus it's close to the cat colony.

IMO, the eating choices are much better at the Taj next door, but since it's connected internally it's no biggie.

I'll be staying in the Bourbon Tower in May (promotional special), but the regular Orleans rooms are fine too.

Only thing really missing from ShowBoat/Taj/Resorts area right now is a 24 hour happy hour bar like the Mountain Bar at WWW, hopefully Revel will fix that.

Showboat does have the $8 Hurricanes, keep the glass and get $4 refills. You can buy one when you get there and get $4 refills during your entire stay [and the next visit].

Showboat offers a good value for the money. I enjoyed my stay a few months ago for $50 a night. Those who pay weekend rates may be disappointed. I just can't see paying $200\$300 for a room. But I only live an hour away.

I think it is a wise choice to get an inexpensive room and then walk or take a jitney or cab to your favorite casino. That leaves you with more cash for gambling and dining. Just my. 02.

I've stayed a couple of times at Sb, my only peeve is that the rooms never have safes.
