Question for LONG time HR customers

I was wondering the other day, when Harrahs first opened and the Harbour Tower was the only tower........

Where was the front desk?

Anything else change locations over time?

How about what happened to the balconies on the Plaza East Tower that had such great ocean views?

You can still see the concrete balcony floors but the doors and railings have been removed.

There have been many changes over the years. The fantasia reef buffet used to be in the middle and had beautiful fish tanks and even that wasn't the first buffet.. The original deli was near where the total rewards counter is. There was a food court kinda where the diamond club and bill's is. Later that area was another deli and a high end restaurant with a huge wine case, some is still visible in the club. The diamond lounge was upstairs where the Mexican place is. They used to have classic cars on display from the HUGE Bill Harrah's collection before Ramada sold it off. I have a couple post cards from back then, can't remember the lobby .

I vaguely remember when Harrah's buffet was in a basement or on a lower level?

Ahhh memories from the eighties.....Trump Plaza was Harrahs at Trump Plaza and the Golden Nugget was the Jewel of the Boardwalk Hotels. Somewhere I have a casino chip that is marked Hilton; I got it when Trump Castle first opened (still had the Hilton branding in a lot of parts).

I remember the FantaSea buffet when it first opened with all the fishtanks. Of course the live fish had me craving sushi. And the scallops and some shellfish that was cooked with breadcrumbs were served in scallop shells. The shells were either serving dishes shaped like scallop shells or scallop shells bought because they were all of uniform size because I remember a sign not to throw them away or the waitstaff telling us not to throw them away, so all of us would pile the shells up in the center of the table so whoever bussed the table could gather them easily. Oh wait. Cstr~8 doesn't eat this kinda stuff

Fantasy Reef or whatever it was called (the buffet) was located where in the hotel - I can picture leaving it and I think heading to the self park escalators - it was near restrooms and along a back wall but cant picture it in relation to what is there now - but I also have no sense of direction

The Fantasea buffet was literally in the middle of the casino floor, like a donut hole. It was where the Xhibition bar/ table game area are now located. Before that, the buffet was located where Bill's Burgers/Diamond club now are. It had a wall of windows overlooking the water. I don't know about the front desk since I couldn't afford to stay there way back when :)

Thanks AC I just couldnt orient myself spatially but xhibition bar makes sense - thats what I recall. Not sure I recall it at its other location but that was a long time ago. I do kinda remember it moving though. Any way that was one great buffet. There was a scallop thing in a shell that was to die for and I loved the food - didnt mind waiting with all the pretty fish in line either LOL ah the good old days

The TP balconies were never used, if I recall correctly.

Trump bought the property which was supposed to be either condos or apartments, can't remember which.

The East Tower at Trump Plaza was a Holiday Inn. I grew up with someone who stayed there in AC's pre~gaming days

edit: the balconies did open when it was Holiday Inn
