Parx Casino Vs Atlantic City Casinos?

Thinking about making my first trip to parx casino. Has anyone been there before and tell me their experiences compared to AC? I been to AC a lot and always go to Taj, Showboat, Caesars, Borgata.

Is Parx Casino pretty decent? What about the video poker/poker there? I also heard the slot/video poker machines are tricky compared to AC such as if you pressed a wrong button, then you can't change it or something like that? I do know the negative about Parx is they don't have hotel rooms there and that is really embarrasing in my opinion.

Just a note ~ There are a lot of standard chain hotels/motels (Holiday Inn, etc...) as well as dining options, very close to Parx Casino. Parx also offers live (horse) racing depending on when you go.

I can see parx from my back window on a nice day. I have been there 3 times and disliked it. The restaurant choices are disappointing. If you go at a prime time the clientele isn't too bad but if you go at an off time its pretty bad. They bus in people from the city. They do have a nice game selection though and occasional ok entertainment. I do keep tabs on the place from time to time.

My opinion is this place makes most of its money from people spending their government money and is best avoided.

Hotels are all around the perimeter and even more within a mile.

I work 20 minutes from Parx and my daughter lives minutes away and I rarely go there. It's always crowded, I don't think the comps are all that great, and I'm just not comfortable there. I work with a woman who won a jackpot, took the bus home and when she got off at her stop, two thugs got off too, knocked her down and demanded she give them the money. I know that can happen anywhere but it just seems like there's a lot of crime at this particular casino.

There have also been a lot of arrests of people leaving their children in cars while they gamble. The whole place just doesn't interest me at all. I'd rather drive to Harrah's Chester or down to AC.

Sorry I can't help with VP.

Like others said, lots of hotels and restaurants nearby.

I don't work to far from Parx either, but I really don't like it there. It is usually pretty crowded unless you go EARLY in the morning. The parking lot gets packed and you can have a pretty good hike to get to the casino and hope it's nice weather. They do have a lot of different slots, but can't help you much with the video poker. I've only sat at the bar and played a few times.

Have to agree that it's not the safest area. I know they have patrols in the parking lot, but it is big and late at night I won't feel very safe. I'll stick to Harrah's Chester when I take a quick trip. At least my play goes towards my comps I can use in AC and Vegas.

Hope you have a good time if you go.

I have been there twice, going back to not long after they opened. It was extremely smoky...selection of games was good, but there WAS a lot of riff-raff the second time we visited. IMHO, it is about the same length of time to drive there as it is to drive to AC for me- I'd drive to AC over Parx any day.
