3 nights enough?

Planning on coming to AC in June for 3 nights after 5 nights in NYC with my BFF, both in our early 40's.

Will 3 nights be enough? We usually do Vegas for a full week.

What's there to do that we shouldn't miss.....besides gamble of course.

Any nice bars for 40 somethings that are more relaxed and quiet and not full of loud 20 somethings?

Top restaurants or great places to eat that shouldn't be missed?

Appreciate any advice.....we are dying to visit but are scared of the 20 something loud Jersey Shore tv show type crowd.....please tell me they aren't real:-)

cheers

I also try to avoid the drunken 20 somethings. The Jersey Shore is a show and not reality.

I would try a visit during the week. Weekends and the clubs seem to be the big draw for the 20 somethings.

Read the section on the right side of the page. It has most of the answers to your questions..

If you must be in A.C. over the weekend avoid the Tropicana! It looks like one big frat party!

The Atlantic Club" formerly Hilton." Showboat and Resorts have a more mature crowd. You may want to stay in one of these and walk the boardwalk. The new Revel will be open by then as well.

I would stay on the boardwalk if you can. Much more to see and do.

Too many.

All A/C does is cater to the youngsters(come wreck our hotel rooms, throw up in our halls and elevators and chase the paying customers so they don't come back).

The 20 somethings are real, the ONLY thing that hasn't left A/C!!!

There are many things for 40 something couples to do in AC and 3 nights is long enough, 2 nights is maybe the best unless you are pool and beach people.

IAC is not over run by 20 something crowds and not the only people left visiting as the previous poster said....he is bias to PA casinos and has nothing good to say about AC.

We travel midweek and enjoy The Deck at the Golden Nugget during the summer for live music. You can check the casino schedule for the bands that nigth as the season comes closer. Also Chart House at the same casino has a great Happy Hour with a view over the water.

On the boardwalk side the Plaza Beach bar is nice at night for music and a drink.

We don't visit the Harrahs Pool due to the young crowds who take over the place.

Borgata is fun to visit and more Vegas than most casinos in AC. The Revel will be open and that is more music and food places and less to the gambling crowd. Check out their website.

Have a good trip and ask any questions as most posters have visited all the casinos in town.

Thanks so much for all your prompt and insightful replies.....especially dave for the map....very helpful indeed.

We like the idea of some live music and sitting in the sun with a cocktail so will be sure to visit the GN....thanks blackjack172.

IMHO 3 nights is too long. Unless as mentioned above you want to spend a lot of time on the beach or at a pool. AC is not Las Vegas.

3 days is more than enough. Although A.C. has a lot of casinos they are not as extravagant as the Las Vegas Casinos. If you like to shop, they have a nice area of outlet stores. Caesar's has a nice pier with shops and restaurants. A.C. has a nice beach, but June is a little early for the beach unless we have exceptionally hot weather.

Be sure to get out to the marina area (Borgata, Harrahs and Golden Nugget).

The new Revel will be open by the time you get there and that should be a great place to check out.

3-4 days is plenty. AC is kind of short on "must see attractions" which they are working on unless you enjoy laying on the beach for more days. If you go during the week you will feel like YOU are the Jersey Shore youngsters in comparison to the crowd hahah. I am 40's also and have never had any trouble with the younger crowds myself they are out for a good time and I am not disgusted by seeing myself from 20 years ago haha. I choose to be amused more than anything.

As to what to suggest for bars....B Bar at Borgata, the Casino Floor Bars at Showboat, Toga at Caesars, Firewaters at Tropicana for their beer selection, Eden Lounge at Harrahs for live entertainmetn..night clubish places I don't know really. Definitely hit the Bally's and Trump Beach Bars...they are both great. I slightly prefer the Trump though.

So far as Restaurants....there are some AMAZING restaurants, I would recommend anything in The Quarter at Tropicana , Phillips Seafood and Continental at Caesars Pier, Back Bay Ale house if you find yourself going to Gardners Basin (basically the marina where the Aquarium is and Dolphin Tours leave). Revel will be open and there will be some VERY cool things there which obviously none of us have tried yet but I have very high expectations since I have tried other restaurants done by those chefs.

Give the Dolphin Tour a shot, there are some shops and Back Bay Ale house which is a relaxed bar with pretty decent food. Dolphin Tour and Back Bay for lunch can make for an enjoyable afternoon.

I think that since you'll be coming for the 1st time, you'll be able to find things to fill your time. Until a few days ago, I totally forgot about this link tripadvisor.com/Travel-g29750-c157815/Atlant… While some stuff does not apply, unless you have a car, I highly suggest renting a bike in the mornings and you can see stuff along the boardwalk [that may or may not be open yet] that you can come back later to explore on foot

The nights in June tend to be chilly as the ocean temps are still low and the ocean breeze begins blowing in the afternoon. If you don't have a light jacket, you can find one that's inexpensive along the boardwalk at a many stores

Of the three beachbars, Ballys is the only one open Memorial Day to Labor Day. The other two are open weekends only until mid/late June. There is an outdoor patio at Irish Pub http://www.theirishpub.com/ just off the boardwalk and Harrys Oyster Bar http://www.harrysoysterbar.com/ has a Tiki Bar again, just off the boardwalk. See if you can get a 2nd story balcony seat at BackBay AleHouse http://www.backbayalehouse.com/ to catch a sunset with your meal, have one Basin Mason... well, I had one Basin Mason last year and shouldn't have driven back to Showboat afterwards. So take a jitney and drink more than one Basin Mason
