Ran down to Harrahs for the night on a whim to pick up some Omaha steak gift certificates and use some dated slot play. Haven't even been back a week from vegas so felt a little silly going but hey.
hate traveling after work but needed to be there by 9. Traffic was a bear in ny but did well in NJ - was there by 8:15. First thing I noticed was there were huge banks of machines gone to enlarge the walk from valet to the desk. Most importantly my red baron machines were MIA. Lots more space but AAACCKK.
Check in was quick, didnt get my usual corner room but since i made a same day rezzie and was solo for just a few hours I didnt fuss.
Picked up my omaha certificates at event central and hit my room.
I did miss the corner room for 2 reasons - one is the awesome bathroom with soaking tub and spa shower, the second is noise abatement via distance, I was sandwiched by noisy kids and ended up sleeping 2:30-5:30, not exactly restful.
Ok so down to play, hit diamond cove and had a few wins on double gold, tiki torch that were quickly recycled back in. Hit the 7* star lounge for a bite - I understand Alicea the manager has been promoted to host and Olga is now manager, but was on vacation. The young woman at the desk allowed me to enter that proceeded to follow me to my seat for my 7* card, she wasnt particularly polite - her name was michelle - not that she told me - i asked the waiter - and she was subbing for Olga as a tryout for maybe becoming #2 in command. First impression wasnt good. But i was tired it could have just been me. Lounge was quiet - I guess with Mothers Day it was a slow weekend, had a sandwich and barely a sip of my alcohol tasting cosmo (you didnt make it right if it tastes like booze) and headed back out.
Got some play, wandered around a bit, my star trek machines were replaced by the new OZ group machines, there were lots of machines moved about. I did find the red baron machines in the non smoking area between VIP registration and diamond cove but not until I was leaving and havent figured out in their new configuration which one was "my machine" lol. Had a fly by by my host and called it a night.
As I said sadly not much sleeping, lots of slamming of doors and loud talking from the teeny bopper set, so showered in the pathetic little shower and hit diamond cove.
Ok, note to self the casino is cold in the morning, should have brought a sweater. The total touch was sleeping, took forever for a cup of coffee. Then was rousted by the "security" folks pulling the boxes from the machines. They were loud, boisterous and very distracting. They took their sweet time as well. While I get it, the area wasnt crowded, it was a deterrent. Of course, I was overtired so maybe it just bugged me, but the others playing looked annoyed - I would say most of them had yet to hit the sack. I had some success on the machines, lots of play but gave too much back as usual. I did do my 7* birthday tier match - they do up to 5k and I had over 4k so I figured better use it as I was unsure of my next visit and if the machines would be kind.
Anyway, had a brief attempt at breakfast at Tazza - see other post and ended up getting juice and cookies from the gift shop, coffee and another wake me up shower from the room and headed home. Traffic was a bear from the outerbridge through brooklyn so if I do that again I would most definitely leave earlier.
All in all, ok trip, a few annoyances and a review on the omaha steaks will follow lol
